- Melissa Vashe and Julia Marshall developed an experimental art program called "Mining, Bridging, and Making" to help middle school students strengthen higher-level thinking skills. The program involved carefully analyzing objects, finding relationships between them, and creating a new work of art based on those connections. An example project combined ideas from a sneaker, elephant figurine, and necklace into a lamp. The program aimed to help students better conceptualize ideas and apply creative processes. Observations found it helped most students develop these conceptual skills.
