Conflict Resolution
Conflict resolution means a process of resolving
dispute or disagreement.
The process of ending a disagreement between
two or more people in a constructive manner for
all parties involved.
Conflict resolution is designed in Schools to
provide students with a neutral, safe,
environment where they can express their point
of view and discuss issues in a mutually
satisfactory manner.04/06/15 2
Conflict Resolution Approaches
There are four basic approaches to conflict
resolution in education
Process Curriculum
Mediation Program:
Peaceable Classroom
Peaceable School

Process Curriculum
• An approach to conflict resolution education
characterized by devoting a specific time to
teaching the foundation abilities, principles, and
one or more of the problem solving processes of
conflict resolution as a separate course, distinct
curriculum, or daily lesson plan.
• This type of negotiation helps disputants
envision scenarios and generate options for
achieving results that satisfy both.

Mediation Program
•A conflict resolution education
program in which selected
individuals (teachers and/or
students) are trained in the
principles and foundation abilities
of conflict resolution and in the
mediation process in order to
provide neutral third-party
facilitation to assist those in

Peaceable Classroom Approach
The Peaceable Classroom approach integrates
conflict resolution into the curriculum and
daily management of the classroom.
Teachers use the cooperative learning and
academic controversy methods.
Students work in small groups to achieve
shared learning goals.
