Monty Python was a British comedy group formed in 1969 consisting of six members - John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones, Michael Palin, and Graham Chapman. They produced 45 episodes over 4 seasons of their comedy TV show "Monty Python's Flying Circus." They also made four movies together - "And Now For Something Completely Different" (1971), "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" (1975), "Life of Brian" (1979), and "Monty Python Live at the Hollywood Bowl" (1982). The group pioneered a unique brand of absurdist humor and became highly influential to many other British and American comedy shows.
