This document describes an IR controlled robotic vehicle. An IR sensor is interfaced with a microcontroller on the robot to receive IR signals from a standard TV remote control. The microcontroller then interprets these signals and controls the robot's two DC motors to move it forward, backward, left, or right. Potential applications include military, law enforcement, and search and rescue operations. The system has advantages of low cost and using a common TV remote, but is limited by requiring line of sight between the remote and receiver.
