The first shots are of the institutions that helped
produce the film, these institutions can be
specifically affiliated with certain genre’s and type
of films they produce, so these can attract an
audience.
These extreme long shots/establishing shots
immediately show the audience the types of setting that
will be used in the film, also they very beautiful scenery’s
so can draw in audience that prefer natural settings. The
little man shown in the 4th shot can intrigue the
audience as they will want to find out who that is.
The grainy and blue colour to shot 5 can confuse audience as it
does not fit into teaser, however the voiceover suggests it is what
the main character is hunting. This answer some of the question
to audience but also keeps mystery/engima. The next shot is of
the main character this editing is a suggestion of the relationship
the animal and the main character have. They also use a close up
so audiences can recognize famous the actor.
First titles of the time appear in the 7th shot, by adding this title it
can interest audiences or people who have heard about ‘Animal
Kingdom’, the use of gold on a black background make sure audience
can see the title. The mid-shot of the two characters shows them but
also the beautiful scenery and gives clues to where the ‘Hunter’ is
going to ‘hunt’.
More long shots of natural scenery, again reinforces the setting. This shot can
also have connotations of danger and mystery with its tall trees, the general
colours of the shot is also dark and grey suggesting danger of some type.
The main character name is shown in the titles, a famous actor so can attract
audiences.
The mid shot allows the audience to see close up this time the setting, the use
of rain and the colours used show it is quite dark film and help convey the
genre. The over the shoulder shot of main character help audience relate/get
to know main character more but also builds enigma as the conversation is
not clear to the audience.
The close-up of the gun shows the audience that obviously will be guns
used in film but also helps to convey the genre, the next shot being the
main character obviously suggest that he will be using guns heavily in
film.
More famous actors names throughout teaser to again interest audiences,
furthermore the next shot being ‘Sam Neill’ helps the audience put ‘a face to a
name’.
More natural scenery drums into audience the setting also shows a variety of
natural scenery can have scary/dramatic connotations. The close up of the main
character show his dramatic expressions can interest the audience, why he acting
like that?
Similar to ‘Sam Neill’ shots, the famous actress is shown and her face
immediately shown after to help ‘jog’ audiences memories, also the
shot shows the main character suggests relationship. The dialogue of
this character also adds more enigma.
Natural scenery is obviously a recurring feature in teaser, is
obviously a huge part of film. The mid/long shot of main
character holding gun in a very dark/grey setting adds
mystery and supports genre of film
Finally the title of film is shown, this helps tie all the other shots of
teaser and the name helps audience get a general idea of what film
is going to be about, the shot after again shows main character
obviously very important in attracting audiences and very beautiful
scenery this time however the colours used seem warmer to the
other scenery shots.
The use of ‘Coming soon’ is probably simply due to the producers not
having a release date but this also helps create build up and interest the
audience to know when it is going to be released. The shot after with the
natural scenery again reinforce setting and genre to audience and gives
social media names, to get audiences more and more interest in film.
