• supported by DCMS (the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport)
• funding through the National Cyber Security Strategy 2016-2021
• delivered in partnership with Innovate UK and Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN).
Year 1 programme
• 16 Applications / 13 Universities
• January - October 2017 : two phases
– Market Validation : 12 Projects
– Building a Minimum Viable Product : 7 Projects
• Demo Day on 19th October 2017
• 7 projects graduated

GraphicsFuzz – Imperial College
“Security and Reliability Testing for Graphics Processors”
• Acquired by Google in August 2018 for an undisclosed sum. The three founders have joined Google’s
Android Graphics Team based in London. Code is now open source (github)
KETS Quantum Security – University of Bristol
“Desktop integrated quantum random number generator”
• Named “UK’s most innovative small cyber security company 2018” at Information Security Europe 2018
• Recently completed £2million seed funding round
Awen Collective – University of South Wales
“Next Generation Digital Forensics Software Solutions for Complex Industrial Systems”
• Received funding from Welsh Government. Crowned Cyber Den Champion at CyberUK 2018 Exhibition
Year 2 programme
• 35 Applications / 23 Universities
• January 2018 – January 2019 : three phases
– Development of Value Proposition : 26 Projects
– Market Validation of Value Proposition : 17 Projects
– Development of Prototype / Minimum Viable Product (MVP) : 13 Projects
• Demo Day 17th January 2019
– Level 39, Canary Wharf
– 13 projects graduated
Year 3 programme
• Competition now open; closes 6th March (noon)
– £800,000 available for Phase 1 (April – July)
– Up to 25 projects
– UK university, cyber security idea, interest in commercialisation

• UK businesses can apply for a share of up to £6 million for collaborative R&D projects addressing major
cyber security challenges in the Internet of Things.
• To lead a project you must:
– be a UK based business, of any size
– involve at least one academic partner
– involve at least one micro, small or medium-sized enterprise (SME)
– collaborate with others
– carry out your project work in the UK
– intend to exploit the results in or from the UK
• Opens:18 February 2019 / Closes 1 May 2019
