1. Define criteria for the kind of people that you want to follow. Set a
target to follow 5-10 people who fit that criteria and follow daily.
2. Define a list of keywords you want to be part of a conversation for. Find
3-5 items of interest (e.g. web-links, snippets of information, facts) that
you want to share with others, demonstrating your particular
    knowledge, expertise or brand:
        a. Repurpose materials you already have.
        b. Set up Google Alerts (http://www.google.com/alerts)
3. Retweet messages from others, demonstrating your network, and it’s
    relevance/knowledge.
4. Reply to people who have responded to you with @mentions, and also
those sent via Direct Messages (beware of the spam)
5. ‘Brainstorm’ ways to encourage people to engage with you, through
e.g. asking a polemical question, jokes, quotes, or tease with future
    content.
6. Recommend other people of value, especially on #followfriday (#ff).
Don’t tweet lists of people, but individuals, indicating why they are
    worth following.
7. Use the search function to find people talking about your ‘keywords’.
LISTEN, engage, and ensure that responses ADD VALUE.
8. Tweet in less than 120 characters, allowing others to RT you. Even
shorter offers the option for them to comment.
9. Use tools such as Hootsuite to pre-schedule messages, whilst also
ensuring that you have time set aside from live interaction.
10. Remember that there is a HUMAN BEING at the end of every tweet.
    PLAY NICELY!
