Learning Preference
At the beginning of the semester, I took the learning preferences survey and got a 3 for
reflective, 7 for sensing, 7 for visual, and 3 for sequential. I felt that knowing my learning
preferences made a difference in my personal learning success because I tried to work
around it to improve the way I study. Now that the semester is almost over, I realized that I
am still a reflective learner, but I also like to study with a group. Usually when I study with a
group, we also use visuals to help all of us learn. Being a sequential learner aside from being
a visual learner also helped me a lot this semester because I like learning things in order.
Lastly, I didn’t really rely much on being a sensing learner. Overall, I would say that being a
sequential and visual learner helped me a lot this semester especially in my science classes.

                                                                              Daphne Sabbaluca
Learning Pathway
I chose the Learning Sage pathway at the beginning of the class because I wanted to learn
how different types of technologies could help me in school. For example, I didn’t know that
social bookmarking existed and how it could be a substitute for using Google since the links
are arranged by topics and tags. I was also quite unsure how iPods could help me learn since
I mainly use it to listen to music and play games, but I learned that there are educational apps
and podcasts that can help me too. Now that I have completed different quests, I believe I
was successful in getting a broader knowledge of technologies. I didn’t change my pathway
because I learned about different types of technology that I have never heard before.

                                                                             Daphne Sabbaluca
Learning Activities
The technology quest on iPods& mp3 players helped me get a broader understanding on how
to use them. I’ve owned an iPod for quite some time now but I never really took the time to
explore the educational apps and podcasts. After evaluating the different types of learning
strategies such as podcasts, mp3s, I decided to explore the app store for applications that
could help me in my classes. I was able to find podcasts as well as applications that helped
me memorize different parts of the body for my Human Anatomy class. I felt that this quest
was effective for me because it was the most accessible and most of the educational
applications I needed were free. Aside from these reasons, this quest also helped me with
memorizations.

                                                                          Daphne Sabbaluca

iPods& mp3
When I did this quest, I began exploring how I could use my iPod touch with my classes.
Before, I only used my iPod to type quick notes in notepad, but now I have educational apps
installed. I enjoyed playing with the apps because I get to earn points every time I answer
something correctly, which is just like playing a non-educational game. Some of my apps are
like a book, where you have to read the summarized information yourself. This quest
accommodated my learning preference of being a visual learning. The apps gave me an idea
how different body parts look like and this helped me prepare for my lab quizzes by drawing
the body parts on paper from the top of my head and also labeling its components. It also
accommodated my learning preference of being a sequential learner because I was able to
choose what I should read first and go on my own pace.

                                                                           Daphne Sabbaluca
Podcast
This quest was similar to iPods& mp3. I began searching for podcasts on my iPod and learned
that some universities upload podcast that are free for everyone to use. Every time I needed
to review something, I look for a podcast that could help explain a certain topic to me. This
quest accommodated my learning preference of being a reflective learner because most of the
podcast I found were in mp3 formats. After listening to certain lectures, I thought about what
the person said so I could understand and write my own notes about it. It also accommodated
my learning preference of being a visual learner because some podcasts were also in video
formats. One of the podcasts I watched was when this professor named all the parts of the
skull and at the same time explaining what they do and what nerves go through them. Seeing
and at the same time hearing the function helped put pieces of the puzzle together in my
head.

                                                                            Daphne Sabbaluca
Multimedia
This quest was probably one of the quests that I enjoyed looking at the examples because
of the simulation. One of my favorite examples was the hip surgery because it
accommodated my learning preference of being a sequential learner. I felt that the
questions they asked before proceeding to the next step helped me get a better
understanding why we need to do things in a certain order. It also accommodated my
learning preference of being a visual learner because I could recognize the parts I have
learned before as well as why they should a certain way. I felt that it also
accommodated my learning preference of being a sensing learner because it gave me an
idea how the things I am learning in class relate to real life. After this quest, I began
searching for different multimedia like how the heart works.
                                                                               Daphne Sabbaluca
