Sam is working with others to determine which images should go in different areas of a digipak based on the theme of their advertisement and the genre of the band The Kooks. They had major technical issues when the computer they were using to edit their video project corrupted, causing them to lose all of their edited footage. They had to re-edit the raw footage from scratch and add new band shots to replace poor quality ones, working after college to complete the project on time.
Data Loss Editing
- 1. This is Sam working on our digipak to assess, which images should go on which area of the digipak. We are working together trying to link our digipak theme to the theme of our advert and to the genre, which The Kooks are associated with.
- 2. We had major technical issues during the progression of our editing. The mac, which we were using to editing our rough cuts and our final edit had a malfunction and corrupted the data saved on its internal hard drive. Because the latest version of Final Cut Pro automatically saves to the hard drive instead of onto our online college network, we consequently lost all of our edited, almost finished footage. Therefore we had to start editing the raw footage from scratch and also incorporate our new band shots, which we recently filmed to replace our poor quality shots. We stopped back after college had finished and came to media every time we had any free time to complete our video, which we managed to complete within a week and catch up to the rest of the class. And we both personally think that the new edited version which is slightly different is actually of a better quality than the original rough cut 1 (which is the only rough cut before the data loss).
