This document proposes an adaptive algorithm called Symmetric Coherent Link Degree with Adaptive Transmission Power (SCLD-A2TP) to address issues with wireless sensor network (WSN) communication links. SCLD-A2TP adapts both transmission power and rate based on link quality metrics to maintain symmetric and coherent links. It operates in two phases: 1) selecting high-quality symmetric links and 2) adapting power and rate using different heuristics like altruistic, balanced, and hybrid approaches. The algorithm is evaluated over 60 monitoring periods in a real WSN testbed and shown to effectively maintain link quality.
