Same Phones With
Different Signal Levels?

Same phones, different signal levels?
A question that is often asked:
2 phones, same brand and make, same operator, on 4G,
kept next to each other, has different signal level. How is
this possible?

There can be many reasons, lets start looking at them one by one
Same phone, different model

Different models of iPhone 6
This model supports TD-LTE while
others don’t
Same phone, chipsets and variations
©3G4G
• Phones can have different chipsets
• For example iPhone 7 uses Qualcomm chipsets in some
markets and Intel in others
• The components can have +-1% variation but on an average
this should not affect the total performance much
• The phone can have internal damage that may not be
externally visible
Software Versions

Phone manufacturers often fix bugs that can affect
performance
Phone cases can reduce your signal levels

Four Reasons:
• One phone supports
more bands
• One phone has additional
SIM services as part of
subscription
• SIM’s provisioned
differently
• One phone may have
different settings
Some frequencies require VoLTE support in phone
/ SIM
