This document provides instructions for a science lab on the states of matter. Students will need various materials for the lab including pencils, colored pencils, a logbook, and definition of matter pages to staple together. They will also need to turn in already completed IR pages and rubric. The lab will involve observing samples of solid, liquid, and gas in small ziplock bags and answering questions about their physical properties without directly observing the substances. Students will draw and label representations of each state and indicate whether characteristics apply. The lab aims to identify physical properties that solids, liquids, and gases share. There is no homework assigned.
