Jig and fixtures should be designed with the following principles in mind:
1) They must be rigid to ensure machining accuracy.
2) Clearances are needed to accommodate variations in workpiece size and allow for hand movements during placement and removal.
3) Burr grooves are required to avoid obstruction during workpiece removal caused by burrs generated during machining.
4) Ejectors may be needed to remove heavy workpieces or those secured tightly by machining pressure.
