This document outlines Project 1A for an introductory design course. The project has two parts: 1) Students individually sketch design elements like lines, shapes, textures found in nature and the built environment; and produce two abstract artworks. 2) Students work in groups to familiarize themselves with design principles by composing art using everyday items. The objectives are to learn the design process and understand basic design elements and principles. Students will be assessed on their demonstrated understanding of elements and principles, originality and creativity, and clarity of explanations.
