digital citizenship is about being a person on the web.
Individuals portray different personas online
 Persona-Primary audience
• Personal-Friends and family
• Professional-Employers and professional network
• Academic-Peer learning network
Be careful about what we post online because this can have a negative
impact on future career prospects.
 Building a strong learning or professional network online is very powerful
in staying up to date with new trends and establishing connections with
your peers.
Technology and Change
There are technologies that have influenced change in society.
The invention of the steam engine and its contribution to the Industrial
Revolution.
Digital photography displaced Kodachrome which ceased production in
2009.
 Gradual and fundamental shift in the practice of academics is taking
place.
 Scholarly practices are seeing changes effected by the adoption and
possibilities of new technologies.
The digitization of content – once content becomes digital it is easily and
perfectly reproduced and distributed.
A global, social network allows for the easy distribution of content.
Artificial intelligence
Artificial intelligence (AI) is predicted to have a significant impact on
society and business.
Examples include, autonomous cars, computers understanding human
speech, and machine learning.
Definition of artificial intelligence
Artificial intelligence is the simulation of human intelligence processes by
machines, especially computer systems.

Jobs and automation
Humans are smart to survive but need tools to make their job easier

The brain is the most complicated machine in the whole universe

 McKinsey & Company study found that about 30% of tasks in 60% of
occupations
Bank of England’s chief economist said that 80m US and 15m UK jobs
might be taken over by robots
The future of employment examined 702 common occupations and found
that some jobs
Telemarketers, tax preparers, and sports referees – are at more risk than
others
 Technology has created a lot more jobs than it has wiped out. It’s called
the “Luddite Fallacy”
Technology would increase prosperity and lower drudgery

Safety is the most obvious advantage of utilizing robotics
Their high accuracy and round-the-clock availability make them more
dependable for work.

Consistency. Robots never need to divide their attention between a
multitude of things
Perfection Robots will always deliver quality.
Less human labor means more money saved.

• Twitter- don’t automatically direct message people that follow you.
• Facebook- don't post or tag photos of fans, customers, or employees
without permission
• Here are some rules to follow when using social media
• LinkedIn- personalize your connection requests. Tell them WHY you’re
connecting.
• Google+- always +mention users when commenting on their posts.
• Pinterest- don’t neglect to provide good descriptions for your pins.
• Instagram- don’t overgram. No one likes their feed filled up with one
user.
