Digital twin means
 Computer-based versions of anything that physically exists.
 Virtual copy of something real, modeled to behave realistically.
 Cloud-based virtual image of your asset maintained throughout the lifecycle
and easily accessible at any time.
 Digital Twin consists of a digital representation of physical systems, known as
Physical Twin, able to run simulations of the system lifecycle and actuate
reflection synchronously with PT, and vise-verse.
Origin of Digital twin
 University of Michigan presentation originated by Dr. Micheal
Grieves specialist in life cycle management & John Vickers of Nasa.
 NASA initial Pioneered the idea of Digital Twin.
 The adoption of this model in industries till 2014.
 Introduction cognitive & AI starting from 2015 by IBM, Microsoft and
Industry leaders.

Advantages of Digital Twin
 Digital Twin can potentially slice away as much as 50% of product
development time and costs.
 Finding the root cause of issues and improve productivity.
 Its ability to deliver early warnings, predictions, and optimization is fairly
universal.
 The idea behind the digital twin is to go further than working with models;
the costs of maintenance versus replacing an entire asset are also considered.
