What is this session about? Encouragement!
Two Books How Full is Your Bucket? by Tom Rath & Donald O. Clifton Silver Boxes, The Gift of Encouragement by Florence Littauer
The Theory of the Dipper and the Bucket Each of us has an invisible bucket. It is constantly emptied or filled, depending on what others say or do to us. When our bucket is full, we feel great. When it's empty, we feel awful.
The Theory of the Dipper and the Bucket Each of us also has an invisible dipper . When we use that dipper to fill other people's buckets by saying or doing things to increase their positive emotions,  -- we also fill our own bucket .
The Theory of the Dipper and the Bucket But when we use that dipper to dip from others' buckets  -- by saying or doing things that decrease their positive emotions  -- we diminish ourselves.
The Theory of the Dipper and the Bucket Like the cup that runneth over, a full bucket gives us a positive outlook and renewed energy. Every drop in that bucket makes us stronger and more optimistic.
The Theory of the Dipper and the Bucket But an empty bucket poisons our outlook, saps our energy, and undermines our will. That's why every time someone dips from our bucket , it hurts us.
The Theory of the Dipper and the Bucket So we face a choice every moment of every day: We can fill one another's buckets . or We can dip from them.
The Theory of the Dipper and the Bucket It's an important choice -- one that profoundly influences our relationships, productivity, health, and happiness.

Our Words should be like “ silver boxes with bows on top ” that we give to others. ~ Silver Boxes, the Gift of Encouragement ~

Encouragement “ Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.”
Encouragement “ But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.”
“ Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people especially to those who BELONG TO THE FAMILY OF BELIEVERS.” Encouragement

Another quote from Silver Boxes : “ A written word of encouragement can brighten a day and add value to a life. Give them freely, for you never know what a difference you’ll make.”
Florence Littauer wrote a letter to her friends at Christmas and this is what she said, “ As we start the new year of 1988, let’s think of which people could use some silver boxes from us and let’s give them verbal gifts with bows on top.
Florence Littauer wrote a letter to her friends at Christmas and this is what she said, To you, our friends and family, we ‘hear of your love, and of the faith which you have toward the Lord Jesus’ and we are encouraged as you have given us ‘much joy and comfort in your love because the hearts of the saints have been refreshed through you’
Florence Littauer’s book gives a wonderful poem… A little word in kindness spoken, A motion or a tear, Has often healed the heart that’s broken, And made a friend sincere.
Then deem it not an idle thing A pleasant word to speak’ The face you wear-the thought you bring- The heart may heal or break.”
