Disabilities A Special Person
OVERVIEW: Within this unit of work we will be utilising a number of different RICH CONTENT activities to bring about some DEEP learning.
What is involved: The class will be involved in a class production that will produce a Teacher Tube video based around the problems and hardships of having a Disability.
STEPS: STEP 1: Class will be divided into 4 or 5 groups which will actually be chapters of a movie – group 1 = chapter 1etc. CHAPTER 1 = Describing the disability CHAPTER 2 = How will my parents get information and support CHAPTER 3 = Problems encountered with the disability - How to    overcome these problems CHAPTER 4 = Problems encountered at school  - How to    overcome these issues The class will then brainstorm using the “Freemind” program to plan the focus of the rest of this activity. Eg type of disability, organisation of equipment, time management.
STEPS: STEP 2: The groups will use the Program FREE MIND to Mind Map what will occur in each of the different chapters of the movie.
STEPS: STEP 3: Students are sent off in groups to create their video’s according to the plan. They are monitored by the head of the group informing the student office if they move location, teacher liaises with students office and group leader.
STEPS: STEP 4: Students to edit, teacher to oversee editing Students are then instructed on how to post their chapters in sequence order on to the WIKI.
STEPS: STEP 5: Connect with Chase Academy in Cannock Staffordshire UK & Groenendaalcollege in Merksem, Belgium Suggest they give us input on our WIKI and support in their schools for people with disabilities.
STEPS: STEP 6: Merge the WIKI’s  Students to create a feedback page for class input Post WIKI on school website
