Problem/scenario-based learning (SBL) uses real-world scenarios to engage students in active learning and help them develop important job skills. SBL can be applied across many disciplines from science and math to English and communications. Effective SBL requires developing scenarios and facilitating student-centered discussions that mimic real situations. The Truckee Meadows Community College Experiential Learning Center provides resources and training to help educators incorporate SBL into their courses through problem scenarios.
