DRONES (REMOTELY PILOTED
AIRCRAFT SYSTEM(RPAS)
DRONE
An unmanned aerial
vehicle (UAV) (or uncrewed
aerial vehicle, commonly
known as a drone) is
an aircraft without a
human pilot on board.
According to Indian National Aviation
Authority Ministry of civil aviation flying drone
is legal in India.
According to Indian National Aviation
Authority Ministry of civil aviation flying
drone is legal in India.
Foreigners are currently not allowed to fly
drones in India
UIN NUMBER
According to the guidelines will need to
obtain a Unique Identification Number
(UIN) from Ministry of Home Affairs
before they get drone in air.
at digitalsky.dgca.gov.in.
On successful submission of voluntary disclosure of
possessing drone, a Drone Acknowledgement Number
(DAN) and an Ownership Acknowledgement Number
(OAN) will be issued online which validates operation of
drones in India.
• UAVs are a component of
an unmanned aircraft system (UAS);
which include
1.UAV,
2.ground-based controller, and
3. System of Communications between the
two.
GBC
UAV
System of Communications
between the two.
• The flight of UAVs may
operate with various
degrees of autonomy:
• either under remote control by
a human operator or
• autonomously by onboard
computers referred to as
an autopilot.
Classification
UAVs typically fall into one of six
functional categories (although multi-role
airframe platforms are becoming more
prevalent):
• Target and decoy – providing ground and
aerial gunnery a target that simulates an
enemy aircraft or missile
• Reconnaissance – providing battlefield
intelligence
• Combat – providing attack capability for
high-risk missions (see: Unmanned combat
aerial vehicle(UCAV) and (suicide drone)
• Logistics – delivering cargo
• Research and development – improve UAV
technologies
• Civil and commercial UAVs – agriculture,
aerial photography, data collection
•ESC (ELECTRONIC
SPEED CONTROLLER)
•FC(FLIGHT
CONROLLER)
•PDB(POWER

•RADIO RX( RECEIVER)

NATIONAL DRONE POLICY KEY POINTS
 Need license to fly drone cost Rs.25000
 For UIN number cost Rs.1000
 Need to clear test all drones
 (FDO) FLIGHT DRONE OPERATOR -Drones operators need
to be at least 10th pass and 18+ above age BY DGCA
 during day time drones fly at 400ft height
drones in five category
 Nano-less than 250gm
 Micro- 250gm-2kg
 Small -2kg-25kg
 Medium – 25kg -150kg
 Large more than 150kg
NANO DRONES
will be regarded in the next higher category if they exceed
either of the following performance parameters:
• Maximum speed in
level flight limited to
15 meters/second
• Maximum attainable
height limited to 15
meters and range
limited to 100 meter
from the remote
pilot
In forest drone focuses on
 Checking illegal mining,
 Patrolling high altitude areas,
 Illegal tree felling,
 Poaching and various anti wildlife
activities
Restricted areas of drones
• Beyond 500m into sea from coastal line
• Near airports
• International borders
• State secretariat complex
military areas
over eco sensitive zones around national
parks, wildlife sanctuaries notified by ministry
of environment and forest and climate change
with out prior permission
Applications of UAVS in Forest
• It is important to mention that even though
forest fires’ monitoring and management was
one of the first field in forestry that showed
the importance of drones in forestry
• Mapping Forests and Biodiversity
• Mapping Canopy Gaps
• Drones are unmanned aircrafts of remarkably
reduced dimensions, very low energy
consumption and low cost for their utilization,
no human life being endangered.
The current use of
drones in forestry
applications is still
at an experimental
stage, but with great
potential in the near
future.

• ( Uttarakhand become the first state in the country to
have special force of drones to keep tab on criminal
activities in Forest area.)
