A small online business, initiated as a book store, today sells almost 20 products per minute that include everything from mobiles, clothing, footwear, toys, home furnishings, accessories to eBooks. History of flipkart.com Flipkart was established in 2007 by Sachin Bansal and Binny Bansal, both alumni of Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. It is registered in Singapore and it operates in India, where it is headquartered in Bangalore, Karnataka. Flipkart Has launched its own product range under the name “DigiFlip” with products including tablets, USBs, and laptop bags. Both the founder worked for Amazon.com before quitting and founding their own company. Initially they used word of mouth marketing to popularize their company. In May 2014, Flipkart received $210 million from DST Global and in July it raised $1 billion led by existing investors Tiger Global and South Africa’s media group Naspers. Flipkart’s last fundraising round in December had pegged its valuation valuation at $12 billion. The first product sold by them was the book “Leaving Microsoft to Change the World”, bought by V V K Chandra from Andhra Pradesh. Flipkart now employs more than 16000 people.

The company was co-founded in 2006 by Internet entrepreneurs Fabrice Grinda and Alec Oxenford. The site offers free user- generated classified advertisements for urban population around the world. The ecommerce firm allows people to buy and sell products by posting advertisements. Olx is a privately held firm and is spread across 105 countries and used in over 40 languages. OLX is the next generation of free online classifieds. OLX provides a simple solution to the complications involved in selling, buying, trading, discussing, organizing, and meeting people near you, wherever you may reside. About the Indian Team Amarjit Batra He is associated with Olx since December 2008 and is the Country Head for Olx India and is also responsible for Business Development of Olx in other countries. The Olx Indian team has 40 members. They take care of product development, marketing and customer experience. Current Scenario of the company Olx India came out with the latest release about the market share. The company claims to have captured 60% of the online classified market share. According to the company’s reports, its traffic has grown 55 times in the last 22 months and in July 2013, Olx’s site crossed half a billion page views. Olx.In’s two year Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 653% is much ahead of the 32% CAGR for Indian Internet for the same two year period. Mobile traffic for Olx.in has grown from 5% of overall traffic in January 2012 to 52% of overall traffic in July 2013. Also Olx India mobile apps have crossed 3.2 Mn app downloads. We get about 120 million annual page views on Comscore and we estimate to get around 2.0 million ads every month on OLX.in, for now we have 6.7 mn+ ads that are live on the website. With this, Vehicles (Cars+Bikes) form a majority of the ads on Olx, other than Electronics and Mobile. Others are just trying to reach where we are, I think we have 60% market today. Even our awareness is three times more than Quikr in the market.
