- 2. What is e-learning? Electronic learning (e-learning) is learning enabled by the use of a variety of technologies. These digital tools can include using the internet, an intranet, CD or DVD. The delivery of a learning, training or education program by electronic means. E-learning involves the use of a computer or electronic device (e.g. a mobile phone) in some way to provide training, educational or learning material. (Stockley, 2003)
- 4. “ The internet provides an opportunity to develop learning on-demand and learner-centered instruction and training.” (Khan, 2005) “ E-learning can be viewed as an innovative approach for delivering a well-designed, learner-centered, interactive, and facilitated learning environment to anyone, anyplace, anytime by utilizing the attributes and resources of various digital technologies along with other forms of learning materials suited for open, flexible, and distributed learning environment.” (Khan, 2005)
- 5. Blended Learning Blended learning, also known as hybrid learning, combines e-learning with face to face learning. Blended learning caters for different individuals needs because it incorporates different learning styles. Some students may take in information better via technology because they’re not restricted by time, while others find it easier to learn with the teacher there to help.
- 6. It is anticipated that blended learning will enhance the student learning experience. A typical example of this would be blending online activities with face-to-face sessions. This can mean using the best of the best - the best use of online learning to enable classroom activities to be active and engaging learning experiences (Graham, 2006).
- 7. Aims of Blended Learning To support learning activities that extend outside face-to-face sessions. To assist students in being better prepared for face-to-face sessions. To make learning content and experiences more accessible for students. To provide more active approaches to student learning.
