An ecosystem has three main components: the biotope (non-living parts), biocenosis (living parts), and their relationships. It describes the different types of ecosystems as aquatic, land, or mixed, and the feeding relationships within as well as other relationships between members of the same species like families/societies or different species like mutualism, parasitism, and commensalism. Living beings adapt through anatomical and behavioral changes, and while humans can overexploit resources, pollute, and transform environments, we also distribute resources poorly within ecosystems.
