Characteristics Of Caring
There was a time in my life that my friend s boyfriend broke up with her, she needed a friend that
would stay with her the whole time she needed it and I was that friend. I stayed with her gave
her hugs and tissues when needed. She could have called any other friend of hers, but she
decided to call me and I feel that she appreciates me more now than she did before. After that day
I think she has more trust in me. By staying with her I am showing that I am caring. Caring can
be performed in many different ways, like helping someone with their homework, or walking
with someone that needs a friend. The characters Madeline from Everything Everything and
Marin from Geraldo no Last Name are caring to others because they both care for someone that
they hardly even know. First off Madeline from Everything Everything is caring for others. One
example is That night I only IM with him until 2 A.M. instead of 3 A.M. (Yoon 101). This shows
that she talks to him about his day and if he had a bad day she will. If he has a problem, then he
can talk to her and she will be there. She is caring because she helps him with life problems
because she has all the time in the world to help him with all his problems and think of an
answer to give him. Another example of Madeline is caring is I don t see what happens not
because I pull away from my mom and I m running (Yoon 135). This shows that she is caring by
saying that she will basically risk everything for him if he needs her. She is

The Horror Story Of Slender Man
Coming into the 21st century, we have come up with a new way to shed light upon one of our
scariest nightmares. The new boogeyman that has swept across the nation and the world is
called, Slenderman. He is an unusually tall and slender man dressed in a nice suit. He doesn t
seem scary at first until you see his, well, lack of a face. Even then, he doesn t seem that scary
until you hear the stories. Slenderman stalks and psychologically torments his victims (who are
usually children) for long periods of time until he takes his victim in his long tentacles, which
grow from his shoulder blades, and he drags them to another dimension where he consumes them (
Slender Man The Wiki). These tales are just scary stories to strike a new fearinto... Show more

For young, immature minds the evidence can be compelling; YouTube documentaries have been
created (Slender Suits by fxscreamer), many forums and websites have pictures of Slenderman
(creepypasta, SomethingAwful, Tumblr etc.), and stories written by non proffessional sources
from several other websites. For those who look further into it, evidence disproving all of this is
easily found. If someone were to look up the true origin of Slenderman, it is clearly stated that it is
a fictional character created for a photo contest. After the attempted murder of the Wisconsin girl,
Something Awful even created an article (as blunt and unfeeling as it may be) telling people where
Slenderman originates from and pleading with people to not be stupid and kill in Slenderman s
name (Parsons). Using the baloney detection kit (or any form of common sense for that matter),
any evidence that Slenderman is real, is unsubstantial, as it is. Photographs, stories and videos are
all dismissible due to how easily they can be manipulated into fallacies. The substantial evidence
for the existence of a Slenderman type creature is truly

Vacation Bible School
I grew up in the St. Louis suburb of Eureka, where I still live today. If you ever look at me and
wonder where that scar on my forehead came from, well it happened when I was roughly 12
months old when I fell out of a moving car. My parents raised me as a Methodist at the Eureka
United Methodist Church. During my years attending Geggie Elementary School, every Sunday
my parents would force me to get out of bed and go to Church with them. During church, all the
children would go to Sunday school while the parents were listening to the sermon. In Sunday
school, we had a teacher, sometimes my mom, who would give out fun church related activities.
However, I did not enjoy doing that mostly because it involved getting out of bed early and since I
did not like the subject matter either, but at that age, children do not fully grasp the importance of
attending church and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Here I interacted with similarly aged Christians and did learning activities together with
instructors. As I got older, when I attended LaSalle Springs Middle School, I began to participate
in Vacation Bible School as a teacher and would give out activities for the younger children to
do. Shortly after, I went through conformation to officially become a member of the Church.
During this time, I was also baptized because I wasn t at birth. After middle school, I attended
Eureka High School. In my early high school years my family, including myself, became
disconnected from the church because we got busier with academics and sports, which left less
time for Church. However, I did go on mission trips with the church, one to Virginia Beach in
Virginia and the other to Joplin in Missouri. In Virginia Beach, we helped fix up a nursing home
and interacted with less fortunate children. In Joplin, we helped to rebuild homes due to the

Harvey Milk Language Analysis
The movie, Milk, released in 2008, focuses on Harvey Milk, who was the first openly gay man
to come out and be elected into public office. Throughout the movie, there were many events
that had an impact on how the LGBTQ community was viewed and on gay politicians and
politics in America. This film also inspired many. One of the first events that had an impact on
the LGBTQ community was when Harvey Milk was elected in the Californian public office.
This was the most impactful event in the film because this brought the gay community together
and their rights were finally taken into account. It was also a memorable moment for Harvey
Milk as this was the third time trying and he finally won. He was also the third openly
homosexual politician in the entire US. The gay community started to feel like they re not alone
and they re one of them as well. They felt more welcomed once Milk was elected and felt that
there was finally someone to represent them in the community as a whole and stand up for their
rights together. This also had a lot of impact on gay politicians and politics in America. A lot of
his relationships messed up with his gay friends and other friends because of his devotion to
politics. He meets Dan White, but a lot of their opinions differ and this has a negative impact on
their relationship because Milk opposes the projects that Dan White... Show more content on

Looking For A Creative Project
Are you looking for a creative project that s fun, easy and fairly quick? Tie dying is a great
activity for the whole family! The wonderful thing about tie dye is that you can t really mess it up
and anyone can do it. Here are the things you ll need to gather before getting started:
Fabric to dye. You can dye t shirts, bandannas, shorts, socks, underwear...whatever you d like, as
long as your fabric is 100% cotton, rayon, or other natural fiber, otherwise the dye won t hold.
Inexpensive cotton t shirts are perfect for beginners. You should pre wash them to remove any
finishes on the cloth that might interfere with the dying process. Dye to color your fabric. The three
primary colors for tie dye are fuchsia, yellow and turquoise. Other colors can be achieved by
mixing two or three of these together, for example, fuchsia and yellow will give you orange. You
can buy individual supplies but if this is your first time dying, I recommend a tie dye kit. You can
get them in most stores that offer craft supplies or order them online. I ve used the Tulip Dye Kits
for birthday parties and the shirts turned out beautifully. My dyes of choice however, are Procion
MX dyes. You can order kits online through stores such as Dharma Trading Company. I do not
recommend using RIT dyes. I ve found them to be very messy and the colors run and fade
quickly. Soda ash to pre soak your shirts in. Some kits have it included. If not, you can find soda
ash, (aka sodium carbonate); at

Overview of the Roaring Twenties
The Roaring Twenties were an age of dramatic political, social, and economic change. Women
wanted new and improved rights and the nation s wealth doubled between 1920 and 1929.
Culture, values, and the technology of America changed and it had only just begun. The Roaring
Twenties were considered as a celebration of youth . The many experiences that came from WWI
had transitioned into the growth of cities, new industries, and new morals. Women finally won the
right to vote in 1920, and there were new roles for them in the workplace. Many of the social
changes greatly affected the new world. There was an increasing availability of birth control which
eventually led to a decline of the birth rate. Technology made everything easier... Show more

Louis Armstrong was a stupendous trumpet player whom made many historical recordings in the
1920s. Also, during this age all the people wanted to do was dance, and New York was the most
popular place to be. There were many different new dances during the jazz age that were popular.
Some were the cake walk, the black bottom, the flea hop, and most popular, the jitter bug. Many
jazz bands played at dance halls in New York City and in the Aragon in Chicago. All of the radio
stations around America played jazz. During this time, 100 million phonograph records were sold
in 1927 alone. Some of the older people disagreed with the jazz music s objective of vulgarity and
immoral situations (History1900s). The Jazz Age was also marked by many artists, authors, and
scientists. One famous artist was F. Scott Fitzgerald, who wrote the Great Gatsby in 1925. It took
him five months to write. This book explained and magnified the Roaring Twentiesand the Jazz
Age. Another wonderful author was Theodore Dreiser. He wrote An American Society . This
novel described the urban settings and economic problems (Course Notes). One of the most
famous authors of this time was Ernest Hemingway, who wrote A Farewell to Arms . He depicted
the lives of men and women s values during and after WWI (Yoonhee). These were some of the
most known authors of the Twenties. The Jazz Age also led to an increase of drunkenness

Social Rank Essay
There are many forms or types of rank social (gender, race, education, professional, health, age,
religion), psychological and spiritual rank. Social rank, in particular, is bestowed unequally by the
society and culture we live in, being derived from mainstream biases and prejudices. Some rank is
earned (personal development, education, expertise) and some not(racial, gender, height, certain
health characteristics).
The more rank one has, the less one is aware to its effects on others. Those with lower rank are
attuned to its sting and humiliation. Each of us can have high rank in one or more types, and less
rank in others. High social rank individuals can be undermined by their low psychological rank.

Who resists the call for change? Who defends the status quo? Doctors are among the most highly
paid professionals in our society. The current system benefits them by limiting the education and
licensing of doctors, thus creating low supply in the face of increasingly high demand. Insurance
companies, with the input of physicians, determine the rate of reimbursement for physician
services. Health care corporations continue to be good investments, despite the recession. The
pejorative term socialized medicine , first coined by a free market focus group opposing President
Truman s attempt to create a government sponsored health care system in the 1940 s, has
successfully forestalled change by frightening the public with images of inept and oppressive
governmental interference in health care. The current system, unjust, inadequate and expensive,
continues to profit the few ( doctors, pharmaceutical corporations, hospital corporations, HMO s
politicians) to the detriment of all. This is a rank issue. Who profits the most resists change the
most, and uses rank to influence and obstruct. The medical industrial congressional complex, which
comprises of our gross domestic product, overtly and covertly, opposes change which threatens
their interests ( profits ) opposes health care reform and justice. They have the money, the access to
influence at the highest levels of government, and they have used a profit seeking media effectively

Syrian Warrior God Essay
Syrian Warrior God
The Syrian Warrior God is on display in the Los Angeles County Museum of Art s Hammer
Building as a part of the Art of the Ancient Near East collection a collection consisting of over
two thousand objects spanning over four thousand years. Artifacts from all over the ancient Near
East can be seen in the various, well lit, galleries of LACMA. With simple cream colored walls,
the stone reliefs, pottery, vessels, and sculptures, all clearly stand out behind their protective
casings. Though the galleries offer thousands of artifacts to gaze upon, the collection is well
organized and not at all overwhelming.
The Syrian Warrior God can be seen standing on a pedestal within its protective casing inside of
the Florence and Bernard B. Roth Gallery. Dated back to the fourteenth century BCE, the Syrian
Warrior God is a small Phoenician bronze sculpture with gold and silver overlay standing at 7x2x3
inches. On top of the warrior s gold face, a crown resembling the crowns of the Egyptian pharaohs
can be seen. In addition to the crown, more Egyptian artistic techniques are also visible when

history. In sculptures like Khafre Enthroned , Standing Statue of Hatshepsut , and Menkaure and

observed on The Syrian Warrior God can be found. These kilts, or shendyts, were the traditional
cloth garments worn around the waist in Ancient Egypt. Though deities, pharaohs, and commoners
wore shendyts, the shendyts worn by citizens of higher rank would be made out finer material.

Robert Peary Research Paper
On April 6, 1909, Robert Peary planted an American flag on the top of the world. Peary had
wanted to travel north since his youth. He had tried the journey years before but had to retreat.
This time, he believed he had reached the North Pole. Or had he? How would he know?
2As a Smithsonian historian explains, it can be difficult to know when you have reached the North
Pole because it lies on drifting sea ice . . . there is no way to mark the spot, because the ice is
constantly moving. Years ago, when Peary traveled, it was difficult to confirm exact measurements.
Peary marked his position by noting shadows made by the sun. Peary was the only person who
knew how to navigate on the journey. No one could check his measurements.

It has been Russian writers in particular, who for two centuries have struggled against censorship
and oppression to accomplish two great tasks: to create innovative and meaningful art, and to use
that art to make a statement about a specifically Russian predicament. So often the theme was
political, and so many generations of Russians criticised Mother Russia for her backward ways.
Vissarion Belinsky s caustic admonitions in his Letter to Gogol were long a rallying cry for writers:

Much of GULAG was based on hundreds of letters and memoirs that former prisoners mailed to
Solzhenitsyn after One Day was published. (Remnick, 119)
When reading One Day it is overwhelming to comprehend and imagine this single dawn to dusk
description, with the hindsight to understand that millions of multitudes of men and women
suffered through such an evil scheme of servitude of cruelty.
One Day was the first book of its kind to be printed in Russia. Miraculously, it was not only
printed, but subsequently soldto the citizenry, who were actually allowed to read it. This unheard
of event occurred during a very delicate period of time known as the Khrushchev thaw , when open
condemnation of the cult of personality began to become commonplace, even expected. These brief
years of relief enjoyed a momentary artistic flowering, and poets like Yevgeny Yevtushenko and
Anderi Voznezensky, among others, began to emerge. During Khrushchev s cultural thaw, plays or
novels such as Solzhenitsyn s One Day in the Life of Ivan Denizovich were the primary signs of
new freedom. (Smith, 110) The response to this little book was immense, and an interesting
documentation of varied responses to it is included in Leopold Lebedze s work, Solzhenitsyn: A

The Mexican American War And Foreign Soil
Today, we are going to talk about the first U.S. armed conflict chiefly fought on foreign soil; The
Mexican American War (1846 1848). Motivated by the U.S. President James K. Polk, who
believed the United States had a manifest destiny to spread across the continent to the Pacific
Ocean, he pitted a politically divided and militarily unprepared Mexico. A border skirmish along the
Rio Grandestarted off the fighting and was followed by a series of U.S. victories. At the end of the
war, Mexico had lost about one third of its territory.
Let s go back to those events in details. First of all: What caused the Mexican American War to
begin?
The Mexican American War was mainly driven by the idea of Manifest Destiny ; the belief that
the U.S had a God given right to occupy and civilize the whole continent. As increasingly large
number of Americans migrated towards the west in search of land, the fact that most of those areas
already had people living in them was ignored. Instead, an attitude and belief that democratic
English speaking America would do a better job of running the lands than the Native Americans or
Spanish speaking Catholic Mexicans prevailed. President Polk shared and led the vision of
Manifest Destiny, and did offer to buy much of the southwest land from Mexico. However the
Mexican government refused the offer, and an unyeilding desire to populate those southwestern
lands caused tensions to continue to rise.
The second major cause of the Mexican American War

Beowulf, By William Shakespeare
There is so much more at play in Beowulf than just heroism and monstrousness (for lack of a
better term) and their interrelation; however, a great deal of the poem s meaning derives from the
parallels between them. It is clear from his depiction in the poem Beowulf that the titular hero is
clearly drawn as a parallel to the very monsters he fights. To today s reader, the poet s attempt to
create this similarity may be off putting. After all, the meaning of monster is likely different than
that of heroto a contemporary reader. In the context of reading Beowulf, and attempting to
understand how a hero could be monstrous, is difficult. This is because the term monster is
generally associated with an evildisposition; while the term hero, is generally appointed the moral
good. But in the culture Beowulf was written in, it was possible for a hero to possess monstrous
qualities, yet separate himself from the monster s evil purposes to pursue a social good for his
community. One could compare Beowulf with a character like the Marvel comic books superhero
The Thing from Fantastic Four. Both utilize supernatural capacities of monster into a mission for
the greater good. From reviewing the many parallels drawn by the poet between the heroic and the
monstrous, supernatural capacities are not necessarily evil. The intent behind the ability to
terrorize, intimidate and destroy something determines whether or not an action is heroic or
monstrous, good or evil. Beowulf, in

My Favorite Memories
Some of the most vivid memories from my childhood were born and raised in a military housing
neighborhood located off the base in Warminster, Pennsylvania. My favorite memory however,
was the time my brother and I met one of our childhood best friends. I still remember it as if it
happened yesterday, no matter how much dust it collects in the back of my head, I can always
blow it off and replay it in my mind as if it was the first time seeing it through my eyes. One
humid summer day my older brother and I were outside in the backyard. I want to say I was 6
and my brother was 8, but we were probably younger. The small fenced in space was just on the
edge of the forest which allowed the ground to be covered in dead pine needles that the trees
would cast to the wind. We were bored as ever, discontent with the neglected pair of swings and
lonely slide that had been untouched for most of the summer. They called to us, but our
boredom, unable to be satisfied by such a simple fix, declined their invitation. We sat in a pair of
lawn chairs that were set up against the white fence dividing our yard from the neighbors . That
s when I heard the sound of springs on a trampoline only a few backyards down. It was a girl.
The first thing I thought: cooties. She looked to be my brother s age, and she was. With that
being said, we decided to mess with this poor girl by calling out to her, only to quickly duck down
behind the safety of our fence. We were hooligans. This was probably not

The Human Figure In Hellenistic Art
The human figure is something that artists have portrayed in sculpture for thousands of years. Each
culture and time period had different reasons behind the way they chose to depict humans. In
ancient Egypt, pharaohs were shown as idealized and emotionless, like gods. Yet in Hellenistic art,
people were depicted in dramatic scenes that showed them as very humanand emotional. The way
humans have been depicted through sculptureand the reasons behind these canons have evolved and
changed over time.
The earliest examples of the human form in sculpture can be found in the Paleolithic era. While in
the Paleolithic era humans were rarely depicted in paintings, they were commonly depicted through
sculpture in small figurines. The majority of these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unlike artwork from previous cultures and periods, Hellenistic sculpture was filled with drama.
Many works seem chaotic due to the amount of movement and action happening in them. There
were also pieces that were, while not chaotic, filled with extreme emotion. This can be seen in
the sculpture Dying Gaul , one piece of a larger group of sculptures (see fig. 7). A man is
depicted in what is most likely his last moment of life. He is a Gaul, the losers of a battle with
the Greeks, and yet, he is shown as human with strong emotions. His face is filled with the pain
and sadness of knowing that he is dying with a furrowed brow (see fig. 8). It is a strangely
detailed and emotional death to give to one s enemy. It shows a possible respect for their
enemies and an understanding that they are human and feel pain and have emotions as well.
Much like previous Greek works of art, the muscles are well defined and highly realistic. Yet,
unlike Riace Warriors where the figures were just standing in a relaxed and calm way, this figure
is trying to hold himself up, and the realistic muscles make it easy to see that this figure is using
all of his strength to keep from collapsing. While it could be considered overly dramatic, the way
extreme emotion is used in this piece makes the audience feel the pain and sorrow of the person in
front of them even though he was the

Slavery In Colonial America
By the 1630s, about 1.5 million pounds of tobacco was hauled out of Chesapeake Bay (and
almost 40 million towards the 1700s). The Chespeake was hospitable for tobacco cultivation and
it blew up the tobacco economy.Sir William Berkeley became governor of Virginia in 1642. He
didn t like that most of his people were poor, unhappy, and armed, but he didn t help them out of
that either. However, he did have friendly policies towards the Indians to monopolize the fur
trade. In Virginia(1600s 1650s), there was a very short lifespan due to diseases. Many people didn t
live to their 40th birthday, or even their 20th. This made the men compete for the women that they
outnumbered and become one of the few families that existed there.
To have enough cheap labor and maintain the tobacco economy, there were indentured servants.
There were about 100,000 of them by 1700. The servants exchanged working for transatlantic

Children often display the signs of insecurity and the need to be safe. Needs of Love, Affection
and Belongingness are needs for safety and for physiological well being are satisfied; the next
class of needs for love, affection and belongingness can emerge. Maslow states that people seek
to overcome feelings of loneliness and alienation. This involves both giving and receiving love,
affection and the sense of belonging. Needs for Esteem When the first three classes of needs are
satisfied, the needs for esteem can become dominant. These involve needs for both self esteem
and for the esteem a person gets from others. Humans have a need for a stable, firmly based, high
level of self respect, and respect from others. When these needs are satisfied, the person feels
self confident and valuable as a person in the world. When these needs are frustrated, the person
feels inferior, weak, helpless and worthless. Needs for Self Actualization When all of the
foregoing needs are satisfied, then and only then are the needs for self actualization activated.
Maslow describes self actualization as a person s need to be and do that which the person was
born to do. A musician must make music, an artist must paint, and a poet must write. These needs
make themselves felt in signs of restlessness. The person feels on edge, tense, lacking something, in
short, restless. If a person is hungry, unsafe, not loved or accepted, or lacking

Race relations in American society were a reflection on American consumerism; this consumer
society was directly tied to how Americans accessed consumer goods. Jim Crow laws dictated how

the creation of consumer credit in the 1920s and the creation of Jim Crow lawsfrom 1890s to the

Judgment in Peter Shaffer s Equus and Albert Camus The...
Personal judgment in Peter Shaffer s Equus and Albert Camus The Stranger, though internal in the
first and external in the latter, mirrors society s judgment of those who differ from the norm. The
two postmodernist authors both use judgment as a tool to promote the postmodern idea that
society oppresses and criticizes people who are not like everyone else. Camus and Shaffer place
specific motifs and elements into their novels in order to push the idea of societal judgmenton the
reader. However, while the ideas may be the same, Camus and Shaffer use them contrastingly.
Shaffer tends to use judgment of the self while Camus leans towards judgment of others, but the
judgment ultimately leads back to people who do not conform to the norm.... Show more content on

The combination of the setting of a trial, the inspection of Meursault, and the anonymity of the
jurors leads to an unmistakable sense of external evaluation and consequently societal judgment in
The Stranger. Camus and Shaffer use these physical elements in their works in order to permeate
both texts with a sense of societal criticism. Shaffer and Camus pass judgment on Dysart and
Meursault through their lack and removal of passion. In Equus, Dysart specifically mentions the
lack of passion in himself. When speaking to Hesther, Dysart criticizes himself for his fake love
for the wild and primitive. He states, I settled for being pallid and provincial, out of my own
eternal timidity (2.25). This statement, just a small part of the entire rant against himself, is
opposed by Hesther. Dysart, as a psychiatrist, tries to remove emotion and individuality from his
patients, specifically Alan. Unlike Hesther, who sees psychiatry as removing pain, Dysart judges
himself for becoming a person who removes uniqueness. Alan contains too much emotion to ever
be considered normal and as the play continues Dysart becomes more and more opposed to fixing
him. Dysart s specific speeches about how he hates himself for becoming impassionate and
removing the passion in his patients contrast with society s normal views. These rants, because they

The And Of A Bernoulli Random
Abstract
Abstract here
Humans, and animals, often perceive events as being random. Many lab oratory and controlled
studies have been conducted over the last half century to determine human ability to detect whether
a particular string of events is random. Often, these studies consist of detecting whether some
binary sequence has the properties of a bernoulli random variable. From the re sults of these studies,
we can conclude experimental subjects hold the Law of
Small Numbers (Tversky Kahneman, 1971) to be true. Particularly, many studies have found
humans have a skewed perception of and researchers do not understand randomness. In this paper,
we seek to answer three focused questions: 1. Can randomness be defined, and if so, how can
humans determine whether a sequence is random?
2. What have previous studies concluded with regard to decision makers skill in determining
whether a sequence is random?
3. Are we able to develop a rigorous, mathematical argument regarding randomness? Before we
begin to answer these questions, we will present definitions from the literature to facilitate the
discussion.
1
1 Definitions
Two ubiquitous concept used in studies of randomness are the gambler s fal lacy and the hot hand.
Using the definitions from Oskarsson, van Boven,
McClelland, and Hastie (2009), we will define the gambler s fallacy as the judgement the streak
will end. The gambler s fallacy is also known as neg ative recency. The hot hand is the judgement
that a streak will

Introduction
The need for cheap and efficient means of travel coupled with the development of motor vehicles
has seen a rapid growth in the automotive industry. The automotive industry encompasses all the
companies and activities involved in the manufacture of motor vehicles, including most
components, such as engines and bodies (Encyclopædia Britannica, 2014). Even though much of
the manufacturing nowadays is done by robots, computers and machines, the strongest and most
luxurious vehicles are still considered to be the ones that have had the most human involvement
and effort applied on them. This makes simple tools such as the cordless hand drill necessitous in
the entire process because of their wide range of uses and applications which will be further
discussed in this report. Hand drills today, are used in almost every industry that involves
assembling individual components to make a complete structure however, this report will focus on
the design of a cordless hand drill specifically for the automotive industry.

Delusional In Odysseus
Why does Odysseus see himself in those delusions? In my perspective, Odysseus, the ruler of Ithaca
and a Greek ruler of Troy, is such a character that does not seem as delusional as Ajax, yet there are
some characteristics within him, which consequently make him view himself as delusional.
Unfortunately, completing this question thoroughly was quite difficult, as Odysseusdid not provide
many statements. Nonetheless, to begin with, in comparison to Ajax, this ruler does not allow
his feelings of hatred over power his conscience, as despite the fact that he knew of Ajax s
motive to destroy him, he remained quite calm. Specifically, in the text, Odysseus exclaims to
Athena, I am circling round for signs of my enemy, Ajax, the shield bearer. He is the man I have
been tracking, no one else. Last night he carried out an unimaginable crime, yet he has not
embarked on drastic measures to compromise Ajax s safety and being. (Dutta, 3) Moreover, I
was not able to find evidence to prove that Odysseus is per say delusional, rather the fact, that he
is obscure and battles with his own emotions. To begin with, when Athena was allowing for Ajax
to be present in front of Odysseus, allowing him to make his statement, Odysseus exclaimed,
Athena, what are you doing? Don t call him out! ... Don t, for God s sake! Let him stay inside! ,
it seems to be delusional and ironic, as words before he stated, He is the man I was tracking, no one
else ... I volunteered to take on this task ... I was on

Guanajuato Research Paper
Mexico is a very lively, vibrant and spirited country, which, sometimes, shows in its color palette.
Other than endless beaches, notable archaeological sites, astounding architecture and the best food,
Mexico has some of the most colorful towns and cities in the world. Although some of them are
designated UNESCO s World Heritage Sites, most remain under the radar for foreign visitors. Here
are nine examples!
Number Nine: Guanajuato
Guanajuato, located in the center of the country, pulses with color and energy. Its houses, dispersed
down the hills of the historic colonial city, are painted in all shades of the chromatic spectrum. The
bright red and yellow BasГlica Colegiata de Nuestra SeГ±ora de Guanajuato sets the tone for what
the rest of the town will look like. Guanajuato has been named the most beautiful city in Mexico for
a reason!
Number Eight: San ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Its harmonious architectural design, along with the meticulous preservation of its colonial
structures, earned Campeche a UNESCO s World Heritage Site recognition in 1999. This city is,
easily, one of the most beautiful and unique places in Mexico, although still virtually unknown
outside of the country.
Number Three: San Cristobal de las Casas
Also known by its native Tzotzil name, Jove, San Cristobal de las Casas is a multicolored city
located on lush mountainous terrain in Chiapas, and surrounded by hills. It still maintains its
colonial layout, narrow cobblestone streets and red tile rooftops. A must see for Pantone lovers.
Number Two: Izamal
Izamal, nicknamed The Yellow City, is one of Mexico s 35 certified magical cities. What makes it
stand out from all the other towns in the country is that almost every building here is painted
mustard yellow and white. The monochromatic city comes to life under the bright Mexican sun.

returns on investments can be either in the long term or short term. There is opportunity to invest

The most obvious problem with detecting is no one in a part of the scheme is willing to do due
diligence and internal reporting. The values of a company are an important indicator of the
practices which benefits all participants as a whole(shareholders, employees, public). Companies
that promote Corporate Social Responsibility believe that disclosure and transparency are just as
important as profits. Firms that stake a claim in CSR view their responsibilities as extending to
a wide variety of disclosures and social reporting (e.g., the triple bottom line social,

of a company in disclosing financial information and reporting, helps shareholders as well as
regulators determine whether or not there is illegal activity within the company. There can be a

companies practice corporate social responsibility on a consistent basis. For example, if Bernie

Performance Practice of Baroque Vocal Technique Essay
Performance Practice of Baroque Vocal Technique
When approaching a performance, accomplished musicians often consider the historical context
from which a piece originates. They most often think of such considerations in the application of
that context as it pertains to early music that is, the Baroque era or earlier. For any era, such
historical considerations are called performance practice, and may include the use of vibrato,
ornamentation, dynamic levels, tempi, instrumental timbres, performance setting, and balance.
Vibrato and ornamentation are two important areas of consideration that vocalists must explore
when aiming to give an authentically Baroque performance.
Ideal Baroque Vocal Technique
: The Assumed Ideas ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In The Interpretation of Music, Thurston Dart writes: it is very unlikely that any vibrato was used
in the ensemble singing of earlier times; the few theorists who mention it condemn it (51). In light
of the intricate counterpoint employed by Renaissance and late medieval composers, it is natural
that clear intonation would have been vital to the clarity of their multi voiced compositions.
David Wulstan suggests that in singing the decorated Baroque songs, singers surely had to
provide contrast between trilled and untrilled notes: Baroque singers could hardly have sung in
such a way that trills were indistinguishable from the surrounding gelatinous wobble (179).
Singers today, in an effort to project their voices in huge performance venues have to use their
voice in way that produces, in most cases, a large vibrato. Large vibratos can make it difficult, at
times, to hear a distinct pitch, and therefore trills (alternating quickly between two adjacent
pitches) are also difficult to hear. Thus, it is easy to idealize a pure vocal quality so that there is a
clear contrast between trilled and untrilled notes. Contrast is, after all, one defining characteristic of
Baroque era musicГѓ thus, the amateur assumption has a reasonable basis.
In regards to the decoration of Baroque music, amateurs often think that Baroque music is
extremely ornamented. This practice is a more recently acceptable practice: scholar Ronald

In order to provide information, an efficient social media requires in building a platform for the
target markets in order to communicate with the audience and maintaining those relationships. The
author pointed it out that the main reason why social media marketing is so preferred over
traditional marketing is the fact that one is able to notice or observe the effects of communication
/good brand strategy ( by looking at the analytics) whereas in traditional marketing tactics are
generally not assessable. (Michaelidou, Siamagka Christodoulides, 2011) A study has shown that
majority of the users (93%) believes that most brands should have a social media presence while
among them few believe that (83%) companies should always interact with consumers through
social networking sites. Infact nowadays it is not something unusual to see business getting
launched through Facebook / Twitter / Youtube channels and this effort is made by companies to
save relevance among various competitors and reinforce bonds with customers (Mitic Kapoulas,
2012). To add to this some papers have been analyzed in order to get a clear understanding of the

Caroline Calloway
Over the years, literature has competed with the passage of time for the attention of the masses and
remain interesting. In our twenty first century society, we seem to have the world at our fingertips,
with technology constantly bringing new discoveries to excite. It s easy to think the less awe
inspiring forms of literature and the arts may be overshadowed. However, literature has an innate
ability to remain timeless in order to be equally, if not more relevant.
Caroline Calloway is an average college student that enjoys spending time with friends, hanging out
in the courtyard, and essentially writing a book via social media. Every few weeks, Calloway will

In Victorian England, renowned author Charles Dickens wrote his well known book, Great
Expectations, through the form of serials in the weekly All Year Round. Each week, Dickens
would publish a new chapter of his story for the public to read and discuss. Like Calloway s
serials, Dickens was highly unorthodox for the time. However they provided the same appeal
that Caroline s Cambridge stories do: they re inclusive, not for any one social class, and
accessible to anyone who wants to read them. Furthermore the practices demonstrate the
timelessness of literature itself. Serials are just a mere example of how literature adapts to its
surroundings. In 2007, companies began releasing devices called e readers which allowed users
to download and read books, magazines, or newspapers whenever and wherever they wanted. The
e readers increased readership among the population by making it more available to its users, just

Although adderall is advantageous for individuals with the disorder, the drug is not recommended

The concept of TQM (Total Quality Management) was developed by W. Edwards Deming along
with Joseph Juran and Armand Feigerbaum in the 1950s when their mission was to revive the
Japanese manufacturing sector, which was known for its poor quality products at the time.
Deming and his colleagues demonstrated through a TQM approach that adopting a new quality
focused way of doing business indeed bring successes in improving products, services, and profits.
The idea of TQM did not become popular in America until 1980s, but today it is widely applied in
almost all sectors, including education.

How can TQM be implemented? The first step in TQM implementation is to have an honest look at
the organization s current reality and assess how healthy the organization is. If the organization
faces with preconditions such as significant financial problems, incompetent managerial skills, and
low employee morale, then it might not be a good idea to implement TQM until those issues are
first addressed, and the need for change is openly accepted. Next is to assess readiness: creating
goals and objectives, assigning responsibilities, and securing resources followed by training and
creating transition management structure.
For TQM to be successful, all workers in the organization have to be clear and focus on its vision
and intentionally align themselves with the TQM strategies to produce quality products and
services that satisfy their client s needs and requirements. Some of the benefits gained from
successful TQM implementation include fewer customer complaints, cost reduction in the long
term, elimination of waste and mistakes, and boost in employee morale by empowering them by
encouraging their participation in decision making and communication.
Summary of TQM s primary purpose and use

to a disease. Aluminum is commonly found in arid soils which accounts for 35% of all farmable on
earth. The aluminum (specifically Al3+) targets the roots of the plants and causes stunted plant
growth and abnormal root formation. THis causes stresses in the plant which could lead to cross

Maternal Filicide Essay
A child that is murdered by their mother is known as maternal filicide . Children that killed
within their first year of being born is known as infanticide . An infant killed with the first 24
hours of being born is known as neonaticide (Friedman, S., Resnick, P. J. 2007). Unfortunately,
these words exist because there is a history of children being killed by their parents, which yearly
about 450 children intentionally murdered by a parent. Furthermore, FBI homicide data
correlates three out of four child victims are younger than 5. While Northeastern data a large
portion of filicide are from parents that are going through some form of custody battle (Bello,
2014). These statistics makes Susan s case even more unique that her case goes against the
majority or what data suggest. Another case that goes against the norm is Mitchelle Blair who
also committed maternal filicide. She claim she killed her two children, a 13 year old daughter
and 9 year old son. Mitchelle says she killed her children because they were raping her youngest
child (Chuck, 2015). To add to this list Tonya Thomas murdered her four children ages 12,13, 15,
and 17 years old before killing herself (Jennings, Smith, 2012). Julie Schenecker killed her teen
children also which raises the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The foundation of maternal filicide seems to be filled with some form of depression. New
Zealand study found that depressed mothers tend to contemplate the killing of their children for
days to weeks prior to their crimes (Bello, 2014). Data, reports, interviews, and case studies all can
paint a mother that kills their own child differently (Eriksson, Mazerolle, Wortley, Johnson, 2016). I
believe there are three truths correlated to maternal filicide which are unhappiness, stress, and
depression. All three of these factors in some way come together and contribute to a woman
disregarding what most would consider most

The Impact Of 3d Printing On The Digital And Consumer...
1. Introduction
Additive layer manufacturing, also known as Three Dimensional (3D) printing, provides a unique
fabrication process that allows users to produce structurally complex components by the successive
fusion of layers [1]. This technique offers businesses and consumers the ability to quickly develop
custom components on demand and at a lower economical cost [2]. In 2016, a
PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PWC) report indicates that, out of 71% of US manufactures
implementing 3D printing and 42% believe the volume of 3D printer use will increase in the next
three to five years [3].
The impact of 3D printing can already be seen in both industrial and consumer markets [2]. The
2015 Wohlers Associates report stated that 32.5% of all Additive manufactured objects were used
for functional components. Additionally, the report detailed the 3D printing industry accounted for
$5.165 billion of revenue [4]. The aviation, medical, automotive, and manufacturing industries are
currently utilizing 3D printing [4 9]. Airbus, within the aviation industry, recently produced the
world s largest 3D printed cabin component. The component produced is a dividing wall that sits
between the passenger seating and galley. General Electric is currently 3D printing jet engine fuel
nozzles and forecast that 100,000 parts will be created by their Aviation division using 3D printers
by 2020 [10]. Since 2014 NASA has been researching the ability to print on demand components in
space utilizing a 3D

The Importance Of Technology And Its Influence In Our Society
Is the humanity given the correct use to the technology? Nowadays, the advancement of technology
not only has brought numerous discoveries for our benefit but also has changed different aspects of
our culture. As R. Buckminster Fuller stated, Humanity is acquiring all the right technology for all
the wrong reasons . Technology is the main influence in our society; specifically, turning it into a
sedentary society, increasing the rate of violence, and losing the communication bond in families.
Most of the cases, technology represents a threat toward us; affecting aspects as our health, jobs,
and education, and making sedentary societies. First, it affects our health due to lack physical
activities. To illustrate, 13 percent of the population around the world suffers from obesity, and the
country which has the highest level of obesity is the United Statesof America that is also the main
global power. After that, machines have replaced the handwork that provokes unemployment. For
instance, in the recent decades, companies needed one thousand employees to make them work; in
contrast, actual companies only need one employee to make one thousand machines work. The last
aspect belongs to education because of technology makes field works and investigations easier. In
most of the majors, teachers prefer that students make a static research by looking for information
on the internet instead of making a field research doing experiments, analyzing diverse factors, and
making their own summarize from what they research. Technology not only changes the lifestyle of
the mankind but also modify the manner how its members behave themselves. The rate of violence
has increased since technology has become in the main pusher. To begin, violence has seized of our
media motivating the offensive attitudes. Presently, this is a reality because of the majority of TV
shows, movies, and series present topics such as drug trafficking, physical and physiological
aggressions, and extortions. Next, the yearning for everything is another point that changes the
behavior of societies. As an imperfection of every human, it always wants to stand out of the rest.
This gives rise to discussions and competitions to know who should

Equal Opportunity Laws Title Vii Essay
Equal Opportunity Laws Title VII The first aspect of Human Resource that will be addressed is
equal opportunity and the laws that go along with it. There were several equal opportunity laws
enacted from 1964 to 1991. 2 The first of these was Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act which
states that an employer cannot discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, or national
original with respect to employment (Dessler, 2013). 3 Title VII applies to employers with 15 or
more employees, including state and local governments. It also applies to employment agencies
and to labor organizations, as well as to the federal government. 4 Title VII also prohibits
employment decisions based on stereotypes and assumptions about abilities, traits, or the
performance of individuals of certain racial groups. According to Society for Human Resource
Management, it states that, possible criminal practices include soliciting applications only from
sources in which all or most potential workers are of the same race or color; requiring applicants
to have a certain educational background that is not important for job performance or business
needs; 5 and testing applicants for knowledge, skills or abilities that are not important for job
performance or business needs (Society for Human Resource Management, 1969).This Act also

The Ethical Dilemma Of Hepatitis Sachs Disease
Often times in a complex situation individuals are involved in conflicting decisions to progress

The Presidential Election Of The United States
The 1980 presidential election of the United States featured three primary candidates, Republican
Ronald Reagan, Democrat Jimmy Carter and liberal Republican John Anderson. Ronald Reagan
was the governor of California before he decided to run for the presidency. John Anderson was a
representative in Illinois and Carter was the incumbent. The lengthy Iran hostage crisissharpened
public opinions by the beginning of the election season. In the 1970s, the United States were
experiencing a straining episode of low economic growth, high price increases and interest rates
and an irregular energy crisis. The sense of discomfort in both domestic and foreign affairs in the
nation were heading downward, this added to the downward spiral that was already going on.
Between Carter, Anderson and Reagan, the general election campaign of the 1980s seemed more
concerned with shadowboxing around political issues rather than a serious discussion of the issues
that concerned voters.
A key turning point in American politics was the election of 1980. It indicated the new electoral
power of the suburbs. The success that Reagan had as a conservative would initiate a group of
parties because liberals and conservatives would either leave politics or change party affiliations
through 1980 s and 1990 s. The research shows this caused the 1980 election to be recalled as one
of America s best historical events.

rights, but keeps them at arms length and has as a consequence been hesitantly applied by the
courts. Discuss.

Supremacy of Parliament was kept due to the fear that the Act would transfer too much power from
an elected Parliament to the judiciary. [3] Even though in relation to how Dicey expected that
Parliament acted in order not to abuse power in the country, acting reasonably, it still has the power
to repeal the HRA which constitutes the basic assurance of human rights in UK. In accordance with
Lord Nicholls in the case of In Re S, the Act seeks to preserve parliamentary sovereignty [and it]
maintains the constitutional boundary. On further analysis, it can be noted that Parliament can
enact any legislation that would offend the Convention without anyone being able to decline it,
which brings us, to the same conclusion as Lord Irvine, stating that the ultimate responsibility for
compliance with the Convention must be Parliament s alone [4]
If a breach of the convention occurs the court cannot interpret the provisions in a complex way (it
would be against section 3) nor can they declare that the Act is void. Nevertheless, under section 4
of the HRA, Parliament offers the courts an opportunity to make a declaration of incompatibility
whenever they find that legislation is not acting in harmony with the Convention. In the

Inherit The Wind by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee
Every man has opinions, some which are stronger than others, but do these thoughts define the
man? In Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee s play Inherit The Wind opinions do not define the
people who advocate them. Each character in this play has viewpoints that influence their
actions. The bravery, honesty and determination required to express an opinion defines a person
more than the opinion, allowing one to respect a man who advocates unpopular opinions. When
a man stands up for his beliefs despite their unpopularity, he exemplifies great bravery. While
Bertram Cates may not have been the most brave man when the trial began, he later addresses
the courtroom by saying, I feel I am... I have been convicted of violating an unjust law. I will
continue in the future, as I have in the past, to oppose this law in any way I can, (115). Bert
bravely states his point of view in his speech and makes it clear that he stands behind Darwinism.
While picking the jury members, Drummond [objects] to all [the] Colonel talk, (42) because he
believes it interferes with a fair trial. In addition to annoying Brady, Drummond objects to the title
because he is brave enough to stand up to what he thinks is unjust. On a more general note,
Drummond had the braveryto go to Hillsboro as the defense attorney for Bert even though winning
the case was nearly impossible and there was no pay. Although their opinions were not popular in
the play, Bert and Drummond show great bravery by standing up for

The military service act that was passed in 1917 and legalized conscription truly revolutionized
Canada s future. It resulted in the increase of the Canadian economy and respect for women in our
society. Additionally, it gave women more political rights.
The Canadian economy increased drastically due to conscription. As more and more Canadians
joined the war the demand for Canadian resources increased and new industries were formed. Our
wheat, cheese, pork, and beef export triples as shortages increased. Additionally, there was a boom
in steel and munitions industries and by 1917 Canada was making one third of all shells used by
the British. Most importantly income and business profit taxes were implemented to pay for war
expenses. These taxes still exist today and pay for our schools, hospital and other public benefits.
Every individual during this period, who wanted a job was able to attain one. In fact, many
Canadians had excess income that they could invest in victory bonds. Due to conscription, every
Canadian had a personal connection, so they were willing to work hard and sacrifice some of their
income to help the war efforts and in turn helping the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Who knows, maybe in 10 years, we could actually look into the sky and see a brighter day.
Hybrid vehicles are striking the scene in a positive way. They are becoming the choice vehicle
for many buyers. Hybrids are fashionable in both style and status. With more consumers being
focused on the ongoing problem of air pollution, it is not a surprise they are drawn to hybrid
vehicle models (Why Hybrids are the vehicles of choice these days, n.d). Hybrids are easier on
the environment as well as one s wallet. The fact that they are designed to be kind to the
environment is getting the attention of many consumers, businesses and governments. The hybrid
car is something of mixed origin or composition by definition. A hybrid vehicle is one that
functions with the use of both gasoline engine and electric engine. The gasoline engine is smaller
than conventional vehicles, allowing the electric motor to compensate with energy. A high
voltage battery charges the electric motor when the car is parked. The hybrid vehicles can be
operated using either of the engines or both at the same time. Therefore, it uses less gas. Hybrids
also offer a quiet ride. Many people purchased hybrid cars to save money from the increasingly
high price of gasoline. As the cost of gas increases so does the demand on hybrid vehicles. Although

moment, in the United States, there have been destructive riots and peaceful protest from all races
but mostly African Americans because we continue to witness our black men and women die from
policebrutality without justice being served. It is significant that whoever wins the presidential
Election will take steps in assuring that all people especially black peopleare protected by the police

system will began to be just in cases such as the Treyvon Martin, Eric Garner and Sarah Bland. It is
important the president ensures that officers are properly trained when it comes to dealing with

Cesar Chavez Nonviolent Resistance Summary
Cesar Chavez argues about the importance of using nonviolent resistance to achieve change in
society. His use of historical allusions, pathos, and logos leave his audience with little doubt as to
the proper course of action. Further on in the article, Chavez adds power to his contentions with
implications. The boycott, Gandhi taught, is the most nearly perfect instrument of nonviolent
change. This implication to Gandhi, a notable and regarded advocate for serene resistance, adds
validity to Chavez contention by suggesting that Gandhi would have concurred with and bolstered
Chavez claims. Chavez increases on his believability by making a historical allusion soon after.

The University of California, San Diego (UCSD) currently uses a cogeneration facility that uses
methane gas to supply electricity and heat to the campus. Although the cogeneration facility saves
eight million dollars a year, the use of methane gas does not follow the goals of carbon neutrality
within the UC campuses ( Energy Management ). A non carbon producing, alternative source of
energy is needed to help reach this goal. By following the first solution from Bending the Curve,
the use of electric producing algae can replace the consumption of methane gas. Using electric
producing algae not only creates a carbon neutral way to produce energy, but it also removes
carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and purifies waste water (Gajda et al.).... Show more content on

Another problem that electric producing algae has is that it is still relatively expensive
compared to other sources of energy like solar. This process is currently using expensive catalyst
like platinum, to decrease price, a cheaper alternative is required (Lobato et al.). These three
problems turn people away from investing in electric producing algae because there are many
alternatives that can have better efficiency. However, with more efficient algae, it can provide
more than just energy. Compare to other sources of alternative energy, electric producing algae
has the most benefits of them all. If UCSD is completely dependent on electric producing algae, it
would stop two million tons of carbon per year per acre from polluting the atmosphere (Lane,
Where are we with algae biofuel? ). Although other sources of renewable energy would be able to
do this, algae would be better in the long run. Through photosynthesis, oxygen is created in
exchange of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. This will help lower the overall concentration
of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere because algae can act as a sink for carbon in the atmosphere.
This process would result in a net negative production of carbon dioxide. Not only algae can
remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, it can also treat waste water. Algae feeds off from the

  • 2. Characteristics Of Caring There was a time in my life that my friend s boyfriend broke up with her, she needed a friend that would stay with her the whole time she needed it and I was that friend. I stayed with her gave her hugs and tissues when needed. She could have called any other friend of hers, but she decided to call me and I feel that she appreciates me more now than she did before. After that day I think she has more trust in me. By staying with her I am showing that I am caring. Caring can be performed in many different ways, like helping someone with their homework, or walking with someone that needs a friend. The characters Madeline from Everything Everything and Marin from Geraldo no Last Name are caring to others because they both care for someone that they hardly even know. First off Madeline from Everything Everything is caring for others. One example is That night I only IM with him until 2 A.M. instead of 3 A.M. (Yoon 101). This shows that she talks to him about his day and if he had a bad day she will. If he has a problem, then he can talk to her and she will be there. She is caring because she helps him with life problems because she has all the time in the world to help him with all his problems and think of an answer to give him. Another example of Madeline is caring is I don t see what happens not because I pull away from my mom and I m running (Yoon 135). This shows that she is caring by saying that she will basically risk everything for him if he needs her. She is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Horror Story Of Slender Man Coming into the 21st century, we have come up with a new way to shed light upon one of our scariest nightmares. The new boogeyman that has swept across the nation and the world is called, Slenderman. He is an unusually tall and slender man dressed in a nice suit. He doesn t seem scary at first until you see his, well, lack of a face. Even then, he doesn t seem that scary until you hear the stories. Slenderman stalks and psychologically torments his victims (who are usually children) for long periods of time until he takes his victim in his long tentacles, which grow from his shoulder blades, and he drags them to another dimension where he consumes them ( Slender Man The Wiki). These tales are just scary stories to strike a new fearinto... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For young, immature minds the evidence can be compelling; YouTube documentaries have been created (Slender Suits by fxscreamer), many forums and websites have pictures of Slenderman (creepypasta, SomethingAwful, Tumblr etc.), and stories written by non proffessional sources from several other websites. For those who look further into it, evidence disproving all of this is easily found. If someone were to look up the true origin of Slenderman, it is clearly stated that it is a fictional character created for a photo contest. After the attempted murder of the Wisconsin girl, Something Awful even created an article (as blunt and unfeeling as it may be) telling people where Slenderman originates from and pleading with people to not be stupid and kill in Slenderman s name (Parsons). Using the baloney detection kit (or any form of common sense for that matter), any evidence that Slenderman is real, is unsubstantial, as it is. Photographs, stories and videos are all dismissible due to how easily they can be manipulated into fallacies. The substantial evidence for the existence of a Slenderman type creature is truly ... If you ever look at me and wonder where that scar on my forehead came from, well it happened when I was roughly 12 months old when I fell out of a moving car. My parents raised me as a Methodist at the Eureka United Methodist Church. During my years attending Geggie Elementary School, every Sunday my parents would force me to get out of bed and go to Church with them. During church, all the children would go to Sunday school while the parents were listening to the sermon. In Sunday school, we had a teacher, sometimes my mom, who would give out fun church related activities. However, I did not enjoy doing that mostly because it involved getting out of bed early and since I did not like the subject matter either, but at that age, children do not fully grasp the importance of attending church and... After middle school, I attended Eureka High School. In my early high school years my family, including myself, became disconnected from the church because we got busier with academics and sports, which left less time for Church. However, I did go on mission trips with the church, one to Virginia Beach in Virginia and the other to Joplin in Missouri. • 6. Harvey Milk Language Analysis The movie, Milk, released in 2008, focuses on Harvey Milk, who was the first openly gay man to come out and be elected into public office. Throughout the movie, there were many events that had an impact on how the LGBTQ community was viewed and on gay politicians and politics in America. This film also inspired many. One of the first events that had an impact on the LGBTQ community was when Harvey Milk was elected in the Californian public office. This was the most impactful event in the film because this brought the gay community together and their rights were finally taken into account. It was also a memorable moment for Harvey Milk as this was the third time trying and he finally won. He was also the third openly homosexual politician in the entire US. The gay community started to feel like they re not alone and they re one of them as well. They felt more welcomed once Milk was elected and felt that there was finally someone to represent them in the community as a whole and stand up for their rights together. This also had a lot of impact on gay politicians and politics in America. A lot of his relationships messed up with his gay friends and other friends because of his devotion to politics. • 7. Looking For A Creative Project Are you looking for a creative project that s fun, easy and fairly quick? Tie dying is a great activity for the whole family! The wonderful thing about tie dye is that you can t really mess it up and anyone can do it. Here are the things you ll need to gather before getting started: Fabric to dye. You can dye t shirts, bandannas, shorts, socks, underwear...whatever you d like, as long as your fabric is 100% cotton, rayon, or other natural fiber, otherwise the dye won t hold. Inexpensive cotton t shirts are perfect for beginners. You should pre wash them to remove any finishes on the cloth that might interfere with the dying process. Dye to color your fabric. The three primary colors for tie dye are fuchsia, yellow and turquoise. Other colors can be achieved by mixing two or three of these together, for example, fuchsia and yellow will give you orange. You can buy individual supplies but if this is your first time dying, I recommend a tie dye kit. You can get them in most stores that offer craft supplies or order them online. I ve used the Tulip Dye Kits for birthday parties and the shirts turned out beautifully. My dyes of choice however, are Procion MX dyes. You can order kits online through stores such as Dharma Trading Company. I do not recommend using RIT dyes. I ve found them to be very messy and the colors run and fade quickly. Soda ash to pre soak your shirts in. Some kits have it included. If not, you can find soda ash, (aka sodium carbonate); at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Women wanted new and improved rights and the nation s wealth doubled between 1920 and 1929. Culture, values, and the technology of America changed and it had only just begun. The Roaring Twenties were considered as a celebration of youth . The many experiences that came from WWI had transitioned into the growth of cities, new industries, and new morals. Women finally won the right to vote in 1920, and there were new roles for them in the workplace. Many of the social changes greatly affected the new world. Social rank, in particular, is bestowed unequally by the society and culture we live in, being derived from mainstream biases and prejudices. Some rank is earned (personal development, education, expertise) and some not(racial, gender, height, certain health characteristics). The more rank one has, the less one is aware to its effects on others. Those with lower rank are attuned to its sting and humiliation. The current system benefits them by limiting the education and licensing of doctors, thus creating low supply in the face of increasingly high demand. The pejorative term socialized medicine , first coined by a free market focus group opposing President Truman s attempt to create a government sponsored health care system in the 1940 s, has successfully forestalled change by frightening the public with images of inept and oppressive governmental interference in health care. • 10. Syrian Warrior God Essay Syrian Warrior God The Syrian Warrior God is on display in the Los Angeles County Museum of Art s Hammer Building as a part of the Art of the Ancient Near East collection a collection consisting of over two thousand objects spanning over four thousand years. Artifacts from all over the ancient Near East can be seen in the various, well lit, galleries of LACMA. With simple cream colored walls, the stone reliefs, pottery, vessels, and sculptures, all clearly stand out behind their protective casings. Though the galleries offer thousands of artifacts to gaze upon, the collection is well organized and not at all overwhelming. The Syrian Warrior God can be seen standing on a pedestal within its protective casing inside of the Florence and Bernard B. Roth Gallery. Dated back to the fourteenth century BCE, the Syrian Warrior God is a small Phoenician bronze sculpture with gold and silver overlay standing at 7x2x3 inches. He had tried the journey years before but had to retreat. This time, he believed he had reached the North Pole. Or had he? How would he know? 2As a Smithsonian historian explains, it can be difficult to know when you have reached the North Pole because it lies on drifting sea ice . . . there is no way to mark the spot, because the ice is constantly moving. Years ago, when Peary traveled, it was difficult to confirm exact measurements. Peary marked his position by noting shadows made by the sun. Peary was the only person who knew how to navigate on the journey. No one could check his measurements. 3Peary s claim ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Incredible Power of One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich It has been Russian writers in particular, who for two centuries have struggled against censorship and oppression to accomplish two great tasks: to create innovative and meaningful art, and to use that art to make a statement about a specifically Russian predicament. So often the theme was political, and so many generations of Russians criticised Mother Russia for her backward ways. (Remnick, 119) When reading One Day it is overwhelming to comprehend and imagine this single dawn to dusk description, with the hindsight to understand that millions of multitudes of men and women suffered through such an evil scheme of servitude of cruelty. One Day was the first book of its kind to be printed in Russia. Miraculously, it was not only printed, but subsequently soldto the citizenry, who were actually allowed to read it. This unheard of event occurred during a very delicate period of time known as the Khrushchev thaw , when open condemnation of the cult of personality began to become commonplace, even expected. These brief years of relief enjoyed a momentary artistic flowering, and poets like Yevgeny Yevtushenko and Anderi Voznezensky, among others, began to emerge. • 13. The Mexican American War And Foreign Soil Today, we are going to talk about the first U.S. armed conflict chiefly fought on foreign soil; The Mexican American War (1846 1848). Motivated by the U.S. President James K. Polk, who believed the United States had a manifest destiny to spread across the continent to the Pacific Ocean, he pitted a politically divided and militarily unprepared Mexico. A border skirmish along the Rio Grandestarted off the fighting and was followed by a series of U.S. victories. At the end of the war, Mexico had lost about one third of its territory. Let s go back to those events in details. First of all: What caused the Mexican American War to begin? The Mexican American War was mainly driven by the idea of Manifest Destiny ; the belief that the U.S had a God given right to occupy and civilize the whole continent. As increasingly large number of Americans migrated towards the west in search of land, the fact that most of those areas already had people living in them was ignored. Instead, an attitude and belief that democratic English speaking America would do a better job of running the lands than the Native Americans or Spanish speaking Catholic Mexicans prevailed. President Polk shared and led the vision of Manifest Destiny, and did offer to buy much of the southwest land from Mexico. However the Mexican government refused the offer, and an unyeilding desire to populate those southwestern lands caused tensions to continue to rise. • 14. Beowulf, By William Shakespeare There is so much more at play in Beowulf than just heroism and monstrousness (for lack of a better term) and their interrelation; however, a great deal of the poem s meaning derives from the parallels between them. It is clear from his depiction in the poem Beowulf that the titular hero is clearly drawn as a parallel to the very monsters he fights. To today s reader, the poet s attempt to create this similarity may be off putting. After all, the meaning of monster is likely different than that of heroto a contemporary reader. In the context of reading Beowulf, and attempting to understand how a hero could be monstrous, is difficult. This is because the term monster is generally associated with an evildisposition; while the term hero, is generally appointed the moral good. But in the culture Beowulf was written in, it was possible for a hero to possess monstrous qualities, yet separate himself from the monster s evil purposes to pursue a social good for his community. One could compare Beowulf with a character like the Marvel comic books superhero The Thing from Fantastic Four. Both utilize supernatural capacities of monster into a mission for the greater good. From reviewing the many parallels drawn by the poet between the heroic and the monstrous, supernatural capacities are not necessarily evil. The intent behind the ability to terrorize, intimidate and destroy something determines whether or not an action is heroic or monstrous, good or evil. Beowulf, in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My favorite memory however, was the time my brother and I met one of our childhood best friends. I still remember it as if it happened yesterday, no matter how much dust it collects in the back of my head, I can always blow it off and replay it in my mind as if it was the first time seeing it through my eyes. One humid summer day my older brother and I were outside in the backyard. I want to say I was 6 and my brother was 8, but we were probably younger. The small fenced in space was just on the edge of the forest which allowed the ground to be covered in dead pine needles that the trees would cast to the wind. We were bored as ever, discontent with the neglected pair of swings and lonely slide that had been untouched for most of the summer. They called to us, but our boredom, unable to be satisfied by such a simple fix, declined their invitation. We sat in a pair of lawn chairs that were set up against the white fence dividing our yard from the neighbors . That s when I heard the sound of springs on a trampoline only a few backyards down. It was a girl. The first thing I thought: cooties. She looked to be my brother s age, and she was. With that being said, we decided to mess with this poor girl by calling out to her, only to quickly duck down behind the safety of our fence. We were hooligans. This was probably not ... • 16. The Human Figure In Hellenistic Art The human figure is something that artists have portrayed in sculpture for thousands of years. Each culture and time period had different reasons behind the way they chose to depict humans. In ancient Egypt, pharaohs were shown as idealized and emotionless, like gods. Yet in Hellenistic art, people were depicted in dramatic scenes that showed them as very humanand emotional. The way humans have been depicted through sculptureand the reasons behind these canons have evolved and changed over time. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Unlike artwork from previous cultures and periods, Hellenistic sculpture was filled with drama. Many works seem chaotic due to the amount of movement and action happening in them. There were also pieces that were, while not chaotic, filled with extreme emotion. This can be seen in the sculpture Dying Gaul , one piece of a larger group of sculptures (see fig. 7). A man is depicted in what is most likely his last moment of life. He is a Gaul, the losers of a battle with the Greeks, and yet, he is shown as human with strong emotions. His face is filled with the pain and sadness of knowing that he is dying with a furrowed brow (see fig. 8). It is a strangely detailed and emotional death to give to one s enemy. It shows a possible respect for their enemies and an understanding that they are human and feel pain and have emotions as well. Much like previous Greek works of art, the muscles are well defined and highly realistic. Yet, unlike Riace Warriors where the figures were just standing in a relaxed and calm way, this figure is trying to hold himself up, and the realistic muscles make it easy to see that this figure is using all of his strength to keep from collapsing. While it could be considered overly dramatic, the way extreme emotion is used in this piece makes the audience feel the pain and sorrow of the person in front of them even though he was the ... He didn t like that most of his people were poor, unhappy, and armed, but he didn t help them out of that either. However, he did have friendly policies towards the Indians to monopolize the fur trade. In Virginia(1600s 1650s), there was a very short lifespan due to diseases. Many people didn t live to their 40th birthday, or even their 20th. This made the men compete for the women that they outnumbered and become one of the few families that existed there. To have enough cheap labor and maintain the tobacco economy, there were indentured servants. There were about 100,000 of them by 1700. The servants exchanged working for transatlantic passage and freedom dues (food, clothes, and land). The headright system was also employed to encourage importing servant workers. Needs for Esteem When the first three classes of needs are satisfied, the needs for esteem can become dominant. These involve needs for both self esteem and for the esteem a person gets from others. Humans have a need for a stable, firmly based, high level of self respect, and respect from others. When these needs are satisfied, the person feels self confident and valuable as a person in the world. When these needs are frustrated, the person feels inferior, weak, helpless and worthless. Needs for Self Actualization When all of the foregoing needs are satisfied, then and only then are the needs for self actualization activated. Maslow describes self actualization as a person s need to be and do that which the person was born to do. A musician must make music, an artist must paint, and a poet must write. Race Relations In American Society Race relations in American society were a reflection on American consumerism; this consumer society was directly tied to how Americans accessed consumer goods. Jim Crow laws dictated how and what African Americans were permitted to consume and the creation of consumer credit redefined what African Americans could afford to consume. The expansion of consumption under the creation of consumer credit in the 1920s and the creation of Jim Crow lawsfrom 1890s to the mid 1960s were two major events that restricted African Americans from fully participating in the Consumer Society that was being created. In the 1920s, automobiles began to be financed through consumer credit, as they were no longer seen as luxury goods. Soon after the automobile finance wave emerged, financing spread to other durable goods like televisions, radios, and the vacuums. As installment credit carried high interest rates financing consumer credit became for the first time ever profitable, lending for the sake of consumption appeared as people only saw low payments when taking into consideration purchasing a durable good. The American Way of DebtConsumer by Hyman illustrates how automobile financing came to be a person would purchase an automobile through a dealer. They would sign the dealer s papers and agree to make payments for say 24 months and some fees for putting it all together. Once this is all completed the dealer would take the contract and sell it to General Motors Acceptance Corporation GMAC) who in turned issued bonds or used profits to finance the dealers. This drove up sales and profits. This was facilitated by the private car manufactures and in the case of mortgages by the federal government. Consumer credit exploded and remade society in its entirety; is now meant that your ability to consume was no longer tied to your wealth, but to how much you were expected to produce in wages. Personal judgment in Peter Shaffer s Equus and Albert Camus The Stranger, though internal in the first and external in the latter, mirrors society s judgment of those who differ from the norm. The two postmodernist authors both use judgment as a tool to promote the postmodern idea that society oppresses and criticizes people who are not like everyone else. Camus and Shaffer place specific motifs and elements into their novels in order to push the idea of societal judgmenton the reader. However, while the ideas may be the same, Camus and Shaffer use them contrastingly. The combination of the setting of a trial, the inspection of Meursault, and the anonymity of the jurors leads to an unmistakable sense of external evaluation and consequently societal judgment in The Stranger. Camus and Shaffer use these physical elements in their works in order to permeate both texts with a sense of societal criticism. Shaffer and Camus pass judgment on Dysart and Meursault through their lack and removal of passion. In Equus, Dysart specifically mentions the lack of passion in himself. When speaking to Hesther, Dysart criticizes himself for his fake love for the wild and primitive. He states, I settled for being pallid and provincial, out of my own eternal timidity (2.25). This statement, just a small part of the entire rant against himself, is opposed by Hesther. Dysart, as a psychiatrist, tries to remove emotion and individuality from his patients, specifically Alan. Unlike Hesther, who sees psychiatry as removing pain, Dysart judges himself for becoming a person who removes uniqueness. Alan contains too much emotion to ever be considered normal and as the play continues Dysart becomes more and more opposed to fixing him. • 22. The And Of A Bernoulli Random Abstract Abstract here Humans, and animals, often perceive events as being random. Many lab oratory and controlled studies have been conducted over the last half century to determine human ability to detect whether a particular string of events is random. Often, these studies consist of detecting whether some binary sequence has the properties of a bernoulli random variable. From the re sults of these studies, we can conclude experimental subjects hold the Law of Small Numbers (Tversky Kahneman, 1971) to be true. Particularly, many studies have found humans have a skewed perception of and researchers do not understand randomness. In this paper, we seek to answer three focused questions: 1. Can randomness be deп¬Ѓned, and if so, how can humans determine whether a sequence is random? 2. What have previous studies concluded with regard to decision makers skill in determining whether a sequence is random? 3. Are we able to develop a rigorous, mathematical argument regarding randomness? Before we begin to answer these questions, we will present deп¬Ѓnitions from the literature to facilitate the discussion. 1 1 Deп¬Ѓnitions Two ubiquitous concept used in studies of randomness are the gambler s fal lacy and the hot hand. In my perspective, Odysseus, the ruler of Ithaca and a Greek ruler of Troy, is such a character that does not seem as delusional as Ajax, yet there are some characteristics within him, which consequently make him view himself as delusional. Unfortunately, completing this question thoroughly was quite difficult, as Odysseusdid not provide many statements. Nonetheless, to begin with, in comparison to Ajax, this ruler does not allow his feelings of hatred over power his conscience, as despite the fact that he knew of Ajax s motive to destroy him, he remained quite calm. Specifically, in the text, Odysseus exclaims to Athena, I am circling round for signs of my enemy, Ajax, the shield bearer. He is the man I have been tracking, no one else. Last night he carried out an unimaginable crime, yet he has not embarked on drastic measures to compromise Ajax s safety and being. (Dutta, 3) Moreover, I was not able to find evidence to prove that Odysseus is per say delusional, rather the fact, that he is obscure and battles with his own emotions. To begin with, when Athena was allowing for Ajax to be present in front of Odysseus, allowing him to make his statement, Odysseus exclaimed, Athena, what are you doing? Don t call him out! ... Performance Practice of Baroque Vocal Technique Essay Performance Practice of Baroque Vocal Technique When approaching a performance, accomplished musicians often consider the historical context from which a piece originates. They most often think of such considerations in the application of that context as it pertains to early music that is, the Baroque era or earlier. For any era, such historical considerations are called performance practice, and may include the use of vibrato, ornamentation, dynamic levels, tempi, instrumental timbres, performance setting, and balance. Vibrato and ornamentation are two important areas of consideration that vocalists must explore when aiming to give an authentically Baroque performance. Ideal Baroque Vocal Technique : The Assumed Ideas ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In The Interpretation of Music, Thurston Dart writes: it is very unlikely that any vibrato was used in the ensemble singing of earlier times; the few theorists who mention it condemn it (51). In light of the intricate counterpoint employed by Renaissance and late medieval composers, it is natural that clear intonation would have been vital to the clarity of their multi voiced compositions. David Wulstan suggests that in singing the decorated Baroque songs, singers surely had to provide contrast between trilled and untrilled notes: Baroque singers could hardly have sung in such a way that trills were indistinguishable from the surrounding gelatinous wobble (179). Singers today, in an effort to project their voices in huge performance venues have to use their voice in way that produces, in most cases, a large vibrato. Large vibratos can make it difficult, at times, to hear a distinct pitch, and therefore trills (alternating quickly between two adjacent pitches) are also difficult to hear. Thus, it is easy to idealize a pure vocal quality so that there is a clear contrast between trilled and untrilled notes. Contrast is, after all, one defining characteristic of Baroque era musicГѓ thus, the amateur assumption has a reasonable basis. In regards to the decoration of Baroque music, amateurs often think that Baroque music is extremely ornamented. This practice is a more recently acceptable practice: scholar Ronald ... Nowadays, the advancement of technology not only has brought numerous discoveries for our benefit but also has changed different aspects of our culture. As R. Buckminster Fuller stated, Humanity is acquiring all the right technology for all the wrong reasons . Technology is the main influence in our society; specifically, turning it into a sedentary society, increasing the rate of violence, and losing the communication bond in families. Most of the cases, technology represents a threat toward us; affecting aspects as our health, jobs, and education, and making sedentary societies. First, it affects our health due to lack physical activities. To illustrate, 13 percent of the population around the world suffers from obesity, and the country which has the highest level of obesity is the United Statesof America that is also the main global power. After that, machines have replaced the handwork that provokes unemployment. For instance, in the recent decades, companies needed one thousand employees to make them work; in contrast, actual companies only need one employee to make one thousand machines work. The last aspect belongs to education because of technology makes field works and investigations easier. In most of the majors, teachers prefer that students make a static research by looking for information on the internet instead of making a field research doing experiments, analyzing diverse factors, and making their own summarize from what they research. Technology not only changes the lifestyle of the mankind but also modify the manner how its members behave themselves. The rate of violence has increased since technology has become in the main pusher. To begin, violence has seized of our media motivating the offensive attitudes. Presently, this is a reality because of the majority of TV shows, movies, and series present topics such as drug trafficking, physical and physiological aggressions, and extortions. The bravery, honesty and determination required to express an opinion defines a person more than the opinion, allowing one to respect a man who advocates unpopular opinions. When a man stands up for his beliefs despite their unpopularity, he exemplifies great bravery. When her husband died in the attack of 9 /11. She had lost her faith in God. She don t think she would ever believe in him like she did in the past. She believe is would be a long time before she gets back to the way she was about God. In closing, this back of my point I talked about in the top of my paper. Suffering can happen in two ways self inflicted or cause by someone else, or somethings. Whatever the case is we cannot get around it or do anything about it. It is a part of life like evil and ... • 59. Essay On Analyse The University of California, San Diego (UCSD) currently uses a cogeneration facility that uses methane gas to supply electricity and heat to the campus. Although the cogeneration facility saves eight million dollars a year, the use of methane gas does not follow the goals of carbon neutrality within the UC campuses ( Energy Management ). A non carbon producing, alternative source of energy is needed to help reach this goal. By following the first solution from Bending the Curve, the use of electric producing algae can replace the consumption of methane gas. Using electric producing algae not only creates a carbon neutral way to produce energy, but it also removes carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and purifies waste water (Gajda et al.).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another problem that electric producing algae has is that it is still relatively expensive compared to other sources of energy like solar. This process is currently using expensive catalyst like platinum, to decrease price, a cheaper alternative is required (Lobato et al.). These three problems turn people away from investing in electric producing algae because there are many alternatives that can have better efficiency. However, with more efficient algae, it can provide more than just energy. Compare to other sources of alternative energy, electric producing algae has the most benefits of them all. If UCSD is completely dependent on electric producing algae, it would stop two million tons of carbon per year per acre from polluting the atmosphere (Lane, Where are we with algae biofuel? ). Although other sources of renewable energy would be able to do this, algae would be better in the long run. Through photosynthesis, oxygen is created in exchange of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. This will help lower the overall concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere because algae can act as a sink for carbon in the atmosphere. This process would result in a net negative production of carbon dioxide. Not only algae can remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, it can also treat waste water. Algae feeds off from the nutrient in the waste water and in exchange, human ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
