- 2. 4-Dec-20 2/23 What is Estimation An estimate is a calculation of the quantities of various items of work, and the expenses likely to be incurred there on. The total of these probable expenses to be incurred on the work is known as estimated cost of the work.

- 14. 4-Dec-20 14/23 UNIT I - QUANTITY ESTIMATION / ESTIMATE OF BUILDINGS Philosophy – Purpose – Methods of estimation – Types of estimates – Approximate estimates –Detailed estimate – Estimation of quantities for buildings, bituminous and cement concrete roads, septic tank, soak pit, retaining walls – culverts (additional practice in class room using computer softwares) Load bearing and framed structures – Calculation of quantities of brick work, RCC, PCC,Plastering, white washing, colour washing and painting / varnishing for shops, rooms,residential building with flat and pitched roof – Various types of arches – Calculation of brick work and RCC works in arches – Estimate of joineries for panelled and glazed doors, windows, ventilators, handrails etc.
