Evaluation

Production skills
• Through out the course of the project, I planned only to use charcoal.
This was because I quite like working with charcoal and it fit seemed to
fit the apocalyptic theme well. Looking back through my finalized work,
I now strongly agree that this was the correct decision. Only using this
medium has also taught me a range of useful skills and information
about it, for example, I have developed techniques that involve
smudging the charcoal for effect and I have learnt that charcoal can be
used to add quite a nice and unique shade to objects, surfaces and
structures.
• I believe my confidence and presentation skills have benefited from this
project too as I am quite a shy person, so being able to successfully
pitch my ideas to an audience has benefitted myself greatly.
Time Management
• I believe my time management skills for this project were very
well put together. This is because I managed to complete and stay
up to date on my work each week and this meant that I would
meet the deadline. I planned out my work so that I would be
working right up to the deadline. This meant I would have to have
completed my final piece and evaluation on the final week, which
I was able to do in the time planned.
Financial
• In a previous post, I concluded that the
total cost for my work would be a total
of £651. I believe this total is correct
and works out to be just over double
what the total would be at the minimum
wage of £5.13 per hour would earn. I
believe that this is a fair amount for the
amount of work I have produced and
time I have spent on the project. An
issue that may have arose would have
been that I could have run out of
charcoal, as it drains quite quickly, but
luckily I found out that I had more than
enough in the end.
Summary
• I had also created 3 different ideas for my project, which were based of very
different game and would used different mediums on each. I chose to create
the apocalyptic art as I quite liked how I could be creative with existing cities of
areas. I could look and New York for example and imagine it in a different
perspective, which was quite interesting to try out.
• I believe the majority of my work is well done. I have learnt a lot about the
medium charcoal and how I can use it for greater effect. One other thing I have
learnt is that I should keep a strong eye on the amount of charcoal I am using,
as using too much can result in a dull, dark and barely visible image. Planning-
wise, I believe I have effectively ensured that the time available was used
properly. I have met the deadline and therefore am able to prove that my plan
worked out well and did not require too much or too little work being produced,
meaning I have completed as much as I can.
