Evaluation Plan
Introduction:
I will evaluate the success of my course design by gathering as much formative
and summative feedback as possible, predominantly from my students but also
sporadically from the therapists.
This is the criterion to judge the success or failure of my course design.
My overreaching evaluation question is:
Does my course design maximize my students’ learning experience?

Decision:
Adding all the available formative and summative feedback together will give me
a reasonable overview and sufficient information to analyse this data by creating
a basic statistic.
This data will affect changes to my course design and therefore the stakeholders
(students, therapists, DHB, myself).

Method of gathering information for analysis through the
method of formative and summative feedback:
Formative feedback:
I gather formative feedback during each class by communicating with the
students and particularly by asking questions.
Some examples of these questions are:
Are you happy with choosing a project?
How is this project working for you?
Have you got everything you need?
Have you got any questions about any aspects of what you are doing?
I also gather information through observation and reflection:
Does what the students say match what I see?
This may include:
Is the student enthusiastic?
Is the student working on his or her project with focus?
Is the student progressing?
Summative feedback:
Overall evaluation through reflecting on formative feedback:
- Has the student achieved what he set out to do with the project he or she chose
and does this correlate with the formative feedback?
- Each student is given a couple of feedback forms to fill out in their last class.
One is about their overall project experience and the other one is about the Art
facilitator and Art room. This is the students’ summative feedback.
I have also asked the therapists for summative feedback, asking three basic
questions:
1) In your view, what is the overall value of the Art & Creativity class for
Springhill?
2) Based on feedback you may have received from your clients, how valuable do
you conclude that the Art & Creativity class is to them?
3) What are your suggestions for how the Art & Creativity class might be
structured for your clients?

Summary:
The students and the therapists evaluate my course design through offering their
formative and summative feedback. This will give me the data needed to create a
basic statistic and therefore assess if my course design works or not.
