This document evaluates how a student media product uses, develops, and challenges conventions of real media products. Specifically:
1) The student magazine incorporates conventions like screamers, puffs, and mastheads similarly to a real DJ magazine. However, it challenges conventions by arranging text freely down the center of a page rather than in columns.
2) The contents page includes the front cover photo in the corner, like a researched DJ magazine. It also uses a fun layout rather than compact text.
3) The double page spread mimics a real magazine layout, including slang words and date/page numbers in corners like a real magazine. This develops conventions while challenging others for student interest.
