- 2. Revolver Distribution UK We chose Revolver as the distribution company in our thriller opening. Revolver Distribution is an independent British company that has become more popular in the past few years. They have distributed many low budget independent films which featured unknown, upcoming actors and had a low budget (Kidulthood, Freestyle, Heartbreaker) , but also a few films that have been more widely released and more successful, as they featured big stars such as Julianne Moore (Savage Grace) or Philip Seymour-Hoffman (Synecdoche, New York). We thought this company would be appropriate to use for our independent, low- budget film because they have been involved in such films in the past. Our film would be released primarily to a national UK audience, and distributed with the help of the internet and through film festivals which could attract more distributors.
- 3. Unbound Feet Production Our production company was also small and independent, focused on low-budget releases and shorts, with unknown actors, which is appropriate for our media product, as we have also created a low budget independent film.
- 4. We chose to use independent distribution and production companies as opposed to big Hollywood studios such as Fox Searchlight, Paramount, Sony, Disney, Universal and Time Warner, also known as the “Big Six”, as these companies would not be appropriate for our media product and they would not be involved in independent, low budget films, but in global, highly advertised, big budget productions.

Using new technologies to distribute independent productions The Internet has made independent productions more easily available to the public, as they can be distributed not only through cinemas and film festivals, but also through social media websites like Facebook or Twitter, YouTube/Vimeo or websites that are dedicated to the film itself.
