WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNED
FROM YOUR AUDIENCE
FEEDBACK?
By Jacob Maud
AUDIENCE FEEDBACK COLLECTED
I have gathered a lot of feedback from my music video and this has
helped me to gather general opinions, improvements and how proper
audiences reacted from this video. I have got feedback off blogs,
newspapers, friends, family, school classes. In this evaluation
question I am going to discuss the feedback I received, what I learnt
and evaluate how successful my video would be in the real life
industry.
YOUTUBE & SOCIAL MEDIA
I started off by posting the video online and sharing it on Facebook,
Twitter and YouTube. People genuinely interested in this type of
music would be the ones naturally watching this video. So I believe
this was a good way to receive natural and honest feedback. On
Facebook I received over 70 shares of the music video with the same
amount of likes and comments saying how good it was. I gained over
50 retweets on twitter and people messaging me complimenting the
video and asking questions. This gained a really positive type of
feedback, I knew it was positive by people sharing it on twitter that I
didn’t ask too or tell them about, just simply off their own back. From
posting this on YouTube I have gained 1,763 views on the video. I
have also gained comments from random people complimenting the
video.
YOUTUBE & SOCIAL MEDIA
SCHOOL CLASS FEEDBACK
I carried out a questionnaire on a whole year 11 class. Roughly
around 16 years of age which probably the average age of my target
audience. I gained really positive feedback off the 30 students. I
asked..
1) How did you find the video?
2) What effect did the story have on you?
3) Any improvements?
Every response on the first question was positive.
All the of the responses on the second question were in relation too
‘drugs seem fun at the start but it shows how bad they really are’
which was my intention.
All responses to the third question were ‘No’ apart from one saying ‘It
was confusing’ which was an anomaly.
INDEPENDENT FILM BLOG
When distributing my music video an independent video blog under
the name of ‘Synergomatique’ contacted me interested in doing a
personal film makers profile. A summery and an interview based on
me and the video. This was massive for me showing I am getting
recognition and showing the music video was a success. They asked a
lot about the production of the music video, where the idea came
from etc. Their interest in me and the music video really inspired me,
showing hard work pays off. The next slide shows screen shots of the
page..

NOTTINGHAM POST
When distributing my music video the ‘Nottingham Post’ were
interested in doing an article on me and the music video. They were
fascinated about the video and how a 17 year old made it. I made it
to the 23rd page having a ¾ page spread. The compliments on the
music video was touching and they agreed the storyline was really
original and shot really well. They also posted an online copy of the
article..

LEFT LION MAGAZINE
When distributing my music video the ‘Left Lion’ magazine, a popular
music magazine in Nottingham were interested in doing an article on
me and the music video. They had really positive views on the video
saying the twist mixed with the message at the end was really original
and successful as a video. They wanted to promote it on their site.
The site is under construction at the minute, but if ‘PSD – The Wild’ is
typed it when its up and running, it’ll show you their interest in
promoting the video.
EVALUATION
Through all this audience feedback it has shown me the popularity of
the video and how well it would have worked if I had a budget to
properly promote and distribute the video. All the responses I got
were the same as my intentions. I intended that the originality and
creativity of the video would gain popularity. This approach to the
video, even going against music video theories seemed to work in
favour for me. The school class were my target audience, and not
getting any negative feedback off them, having all the positive
feedback the same general comments, really made me happy. The
personal message of the video was a massive benefit to the
distribution as this is what company's were fascinated by. This is why
I believe the newspaper, magazine and blog got in touch, as it wasn’t
the commercial/generic ideas that you see on the TV. These
company's love new talent and originality. So I am more than happy I
went down this route and from the natural audience I got from it I
