4.How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
Throughout the entire project different technologies were explored to create the finest product. I found using different technologies interesting, fun and sometimes frustrating. The programme me and my group spent most of our time on was Adobe premier plus, this was mostly used during the editing process. Adobe premier plus is sometimes difficult to use as there is so much to the programme. From working on Adobe premier plus in AS media I found I had a basic understanding of the programme however I would of found editing my documentary easier if I had better experience with it. Another technology I used was a camera to do the actual filming on I had an understanding of how to work a camera as I do photography and in AS media I did a lot of the filming so when it came to filming footage for our documentary I found myself taking charge of setting up the camera. Setting up the camera included the tripod, headphones and microphones. First of all I had to make sure that the tripod was perfect as if it wasn’t the camera could get damaged also our framing could be affected. This also allowed us to make our pans smooth for cutaways however when a group member of mine filmed a cutaway in a shop he forgot to take a tripod therefore the footage was shaky. Another important factor when it came to the camera was to make sure the tape and microphone was working. Without the microphone working filming vox pops in a busy street the interviews wouldn’t have been picked up. We found out these ourselves a t beginning as we filmed an interview without a microphone therefore the interview had to be re-filmed By using a camera in this project it reminded me the basics of using a camera for filming footage.This is me setting up the camera ready for an interview.
Considering some of the different internet programmes I used throughout the time on this project there was some I felt very confident on as I have used them many times before. Whilst doing research the internet search engine ‘Google’ was the most important as it gave us lots of information on different areas we could follow in our documentary. ‘Youtube’ was also used in the planning stage and in the editing the stage this was used for archive footage and the music bed underneath our documentary. To convert the videos from you tube to mp3 so they were able to be put on our documentary we used a video converter we found on Google. You tube videos also enabled us too watch different videos on the theme of colour including a colour blind test. Also we used Microsoft word during the planning stage where we created spider diagrams and tables for the running list.To the right is a spider diagram we created when we were brainstorming different documentary ideas and a print screen from you tube.
When it came to the production of the print advert in my group I was in charge. The different technologies I used was a Nikon SLR camera that was my own and the programme Photoshop. As photography is one of the courses I take at college I have used many times and found it easy when creating my print advert. First of all I edited it on Photoshop after this I found a channel four indent on Google and inserted in on top of my image. The work done on my blog also needed technologies as it was necessary to use screen grabs of the editing process which were then edited on paint and saved. My print advert
