This document provides instructions to analyze how certain themes are represented to the viewer through one or more scenes from a film. The themes included conflict, division, hatred, authority and war. Students are asked to discuss the cinematography, mise-en-scene, editing, and sound used in scenes to construct their representation for the viewer. Four key scenes are provided from the opening, a scene with Bobby Sands and a priest, a clothes riot, and families visiting prisoners.
