Bicycle Safety Comes First for Union County Children
Westfield, N.J.-- In order for children to understand the significance of bicycle safety, Jay’s
Cycle Center will be holding two free bicycle safety clinics on Saturday, Nov. 19 from 10 a.m. to
1 p.m. The simultaneous clinics will be held at Franklin Elementary School in Westfield, N.J.
and at Battle Hill Elementary School in Union, N.J.
The clinics will teach children, ages 6 to 12, the importance of bicycle safety. Jay’s Cycle Center
staff will be at both sites checking each bicycle for safety operation and giving parents a list of
any safety-related repairs.
“We believe bicycle safety is crucial for children,” said Jay Tintle, owner of Jay’s Cycle Center.
“With just a little guidance, children can learn habits and rules that could save their lives.”
The safety clinics will cover the basics about wearing helmets, riding in bike lanes, and using
proper hand signals. Children that participate in the clinic will ride down a simulation road with
obstacles to test their reactions and reaction time. Each participant will be briefed on their
strengths and weaknesses and will also receive a certificate upon completion of the clinic.
In order to participate, each child must have a helmet and a bicycle. Space is limited and parents
are encouraged to register their children for the bicycle safety clinics by contacting Jay’s Cycle
Center at (908) 555-4356 or http://www.jayscyclecenter.com.
