J.K. Rowling to be Guest of Honor at Kean University’s Library Grand Opening
Union, NJ – April 19, 2016 – In order to provide easy internet access and resources to students,
the official opening of Kean University’s new library will be held on Saturday, April 30 at the
university with J.K. Rowling, author of the Harry Potter series, as the guest of honor.
Kean University will host the opening of their new library at the university beginning at 10:00
a.m. with Rowling opening the doors and giving a speech about the importance of libraries.
Students, along with their families and friends, and anyone interested are encouraged to RSVP
and join the event. Light refreshments will be available to those who RSVP to the event.
The $100 million, eight-story library was designed by the famous architectural firm BK Skinner
and Associates. With over 125 commissioned works of art, a computer lab and meeting rooms on
each floor, an extensive variety of material and resources and over 2,500 internet plug-ins, the
new library provides easy access for students with upcoming finals and beyond.
In regards to the vast collection of works that will be available to students, Rowling said to Kean
University President Dr. Dawood Farahi, “If you don’t like to read, you haven’t found the right
book. The new library has so much to offer to students that they’ll be able to find something
they’re sure to love. There’s something for everyone.”

by calling (908) 737-7100.
