Space Debris Impact On Spacecraft
Effects of space debris on spacecraft. a Effects of large debris. Large debris is defined as any
junk larger than 10 centimeters. Encounters with large space debris are not rare events to
astronauts working in space. On several notable occasions, large debris has hit or has nearly hit
space crafts. The first collision to be clearly identified was in 1996, when the operational Cerise, a
French military satellite, collided with a large piece of junk from a disintegrated Ariane rocket
(Reichhardt 2009). The impact cut into a 20 foot portion of Cerise s gravity gradient stabilization
boom. The Cerise satellite luckily survived, despite the sustained damage. Moreover, several space
crafts have had to perform collision avoidance maneuvers to escape collision with large space
debris. For example, in 2014, debris from the defunct Russian satellite, Cosmos 2251, nearly
collided with the International Space Station(Pardini et al. 2017). The International Space Station,
however, was able to fire all of its thrusters quickly enough to avoid the collision. b Effects of small
debris. Any debris less than 10mm in size is considered small (NASA, 2016). Collisions with small
size debris may not damage the spacecraft at the time, but could cause damage that eventually
leads to major problems. In 2016, for instance, a 7mm piece of debris struck a window of the
International Space Station s cupola (Griggs, 2016). The debris did not break the window of the
spacecraft, but did leave a

Paper title: Holistic Indexing in Main memory Column stores
You should understand what the problem(s) (or issue(s)) that the paper is addressing, and their
solution(s), which must be described in the reading assignment by your own words. Please do not

1.Clear statements of the problem(s) (or issue(s)) that the paper is addressing (upto 2 pages only):
The most efficient database systems performance depends mostly on index tuning. Index tuning is
defined as a process of creating and utilizing the best indices according to the workload. But, the

Especially the patterns used for query processing follow an experimental behavior, which changes
so randomly that it cannot be anticipated. So, these type of environments cannot be handled by
offline indexing.
Online indexing and adaptive indexing are two approaches for designing a physical design
automatically in such dynamic and exploratory environments, but none of them handles the
problem adequately when isolated.
2.Clear statements of the solution(s) of the paper (up to 2 pages only):
The paper discusses about the problems faced when using the index tuning and a solution is
implemented to improve the performance of the database system called the holistic indexing, a
novel approach which automates the process of index tuning in dynamic environments. It requires
zero set up and tuning effort, depending on the adaptive index creation as a side effect of
processing the queries. The creation of Indices is done incrementally and partially.
These created indices are refined constantly as more and more queries are processed. The proposed
holistic indexing takes the state of the art adaptive indexing concepts a big step further by
introducing the idea of a system which refines the index space continuously and never stops while
taking educated decisions about which index to be incrementally refined next based on continuous
knowledge acquirement about the running workload and

Marshmallow Test Paper
The child I used for this experiment was my five year old cousin who is a female. I chose her
because she was the only child I could think of who was around the most efficient early
childhood age to test for her development of Seriation, Conservation, Delaying Gratification, and
the double picture duck or bunny. I found the most suitable place to do these experiments at the
dining table so that I d have a nice flat surface to lay out all my testing material. There was only
one experiment that required me to leave the room and watch from afar which was the
marshmallow test. Yes, you may have guessed it, but I did quite a few tests on her because I was
curious to see if she had developed some of these stages already.

They use four preoperational thought characteristics that help develop their answer which is focus,

they see which is whatever is appeared before them. Then they notice only the immediate static

John Nash Schizophrenia
John Nash is a renowned mathematician most recognized for his theory of equilibrium and life
struggle with schizophrenia. A Nobel Prize laureate and quite the living legend, John Nash
completed his graduate studies in mathematics at Princeton University ( People and Events: John
Nash (1928 ), 1999). He later worked on the faculty at MIT before returning to Princeton as a
Professor/researcher ( Big Ideas. Big Thinkers. John Nash, 2003). Though Hollywood is often
responsible for depicting mental affliction and above par intellect as intrinsically congruous
(common examples include Silence of the Lambs and Mr. Brooks), this is not the norm. John Nash

Most patients who decide to stop taking their pills or abandon their treatment plan do not usually
get better. However, it important to note that when Nash initially stopped his treatment plan, he
functioned relatively poorly for many years ( Leo Torrey, 2002). In the 1980s, Nash started to
improve and became more engaged with the world around him ( People and Events: John Nash
(1928 ), 1999). He even received the Nobel Prize in economics in 1994, at the very ripe age of 66
( People and Events: John Nash (1928 ), 1999)! Nash is now exploring mathematics at an office
in Princeton and has remarried his wife ( People and Events: John Nash (1928 ), 1999). It is
unclear how he improved yet it is important to shy away from the idea of random miracle
recoveries. Old age tends to bring on a remission of symptoms. Dr. Nash has not received a
miracle cure but rather has had a partial remission of his symptoms related to his advancing age
(Leo Torrey, 2002). Furthermore, John Nash has learned to almost actively reject his hallucinations.
He is quoted in A Straight Look at Schizophrenia, as saying, if one makes an effort to Г«rationalize
one s thinking then one can simply recognize and reject the irrational hypotheses of delusional
thinking (Keefe, 2002). It appears that his illness has left him to cope in a way that his genius mind

Final Paper
In our time, bioterrorism is an upcoming threat that is lurking behind the scenes. Even though we
are not aware of the dangers and consequences of bioterrorism, the effects of it in the future could
be lethal. The anthrax attacks are a perfect example of this. According to the article Anthrax attack
on the Capitol, The innocent opening of a letter, a routine task that is done millions of times every
day in offices across the country, suddenly escalated into a public health crisis that truly frightened
many people who work on the Hill, (Frist). This shows our lack of preparation in terms of working

Theme Of The Jilting Of Granny Weatherall
Analysis of The Jilting of Granny Weatherall
The literary and narrative techniques in a piece of writing are used to make up the story.
Characters, setting, plot, and symbols are just a few of the possible elements that authors use to
create a story. Each of these qualities are important to develop a storyline, in which readers can
relate and understand. Like all literature The Jilting of Granny Weatherall , written by Katherine
Anne Porter, is constructed of literary and narrative techniques. The way Porter portrays these
techniques allows readers to understand the theme of betrayal. The Jilting of Granny Weatherall
uses characters and symbolism to demonstrate the impact of betrayal and disappointment and how
it changes a person s life.
Since literature revolves around and is told through characters, they are necessary for creating
stories. In the Jilting of Granny Weatherall , the characters include Granny, Cornelia, Jimmy,
Lydia, Hapsy, Doctor Harry, Father Connolley, the Nurse, John, and George. While many of the
characters have necessary roles in the plot, the use of John and George most effectively display
the theme of betrayal. These two characters are important for readers to pay attention to because
of their influences on Granny s life. Granny s feelings toward George and her late husband, John,
reveal how being abandoned completely changed her and gave her a tough outlook on life. During
a flashback, Granny recalls when she put on the white veil and set out

Ronald Reagan Deployed Troops In Grenada
On October 25, 1983 Ronald Reagan sent 1,000 troops to the island of Grenada to ensure the
safety of Americans studying medicine in the local hospital. In 1979, Maurice Bishop took power
in Grenada and had close relations with Cuba which was communist. Bishops was then
assassinated by Bernard Coard who established a communist government. This is the reason that
Reagan deployed troops in Grenada. He didn t want the influence of a Marxist government on the
Americans. Many Americans were unsure of the invasion. But Reagan saw it as a victory because
they were able to roll back Communist influence in the area. Coard s government fell apart and the
US brought in a leader who was approved by the United States. We also brought back the Grenada

The Pearl Of Great Price By Joseph Smith Jr.
Joseph Smith Jr. was born in Sharon, Vermont on December 23, 1805. Smith was characterized as
being literate, but far from well educated. His family s rough existence led them across Vermont
and eventually to Rochester, New York. It was here, in the spring of 1820, that Joseph Smith
retired to a secluded grove of trees behind his house and said a prayer for guidance about whether
to join the Presbyterians as his mother demanded, or whether to join the credo of the Baptists, take
up the faith of the Methodists, or follow some other of the contending sects within Christianityat the
time. It was here Joseph Smith claimed to receive his first of many visions. Smith claimed that God

Unlike the other standard works of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, the revelations
in the Doctrine and Covenants were received in modern times by latter day prophets and therefore
are not translations of ancient documents. The last canonized revelation was a vision given in
1918 and there are also tow official declarations the abolishment of polygamy in 1890 and the
extension of the priesthood to all races in 1978. The Pearl of Great Price was penned by Joseph
Smith, is deemed inspired, and consists of several books and 13 articles of faith. These books
include the book of Moses (a revision of parts of Genesis), the Book of Abraham, The Book of
Joseph Smith Matthew (a revision of Matthew 24) and the book of Joseph Smith History (his
testimony to the church). The completion of The Book of Mormon, proved to be the most
important and significant act that Joseph Smith contributed to his church and organization. The
Book of Mormon served as a new doctrine and guideline of Christ s restored church, with which to
believe and abide by. This served to his new Mormon congregation building the early religious
foundation for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints stating the highly important concept
of an open cannon doctrine, established belief of divine revelation. The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter Day Saints categorizes their concept of divine revelation into two categories; Revelation to

Analysis Of Citizen Kane
The hero s journey model, (also known as the monomyth), is a pattern of events and characters that
appears in most movies, books, tv shows, etc. In this pattern, the hero leaves her/his mundane
world, plunges into the unknown, undergoes test and trials, and returns with new knowledge and
power. In the movie Citizen Kane, a rich man and a reporter covering the story after his death
learns the power and problems with money and greediness. The movie starts with him being given
away from his mother, the only truly happy place he would know. A very rich banker adopts him,

to run for governor. He has married the niece of the president and now has a child. Now, during
the prime time a week from the election, he is faced by the abyss. He has already been tested

woman and threatens to expose him. He is faced with either withdrawing from the race, or
taking the scandal. He take the scandal despite threats to his wife and child. Here he loses
everything he has wanted: admiration of other people. At this point the monomyth takes a

The Human Brain And Brain Disorders
the human brain can be burdened with various diseases and disorders. Since the brain acts as the
bodies control system, any malfunctions can result in serious problems to the entire system,
including memory, sensation, and even personality; factors such as illness, genetics, and trauma are
a few of the main things that cause Braindisorders. (Brain Disorders) Degenerative diseases,
psychiatric diseases, brain tumors, brain injuries, and addiction are some major illnesses that
come into play. Degenerative diseases are passed down through generations; an enormous forty
five million people are affected by these conditions, all across the world. Alzheimer s, ALS,
huntington s, and parkinson s disease are all categorized as degenerative diseases. Depression,
schizophrenia, and bipolar disorder are classifies as non other than psychiatric disorders; luckily,
these disorders can be treated with therapy. There is a variety of auspicious options that can be
chosen from accordingly for the patient. Additionally, many individuals suffer from addiction;
while everyone is at risk of addiction in some way shape or form, a few are at higher risk than
others. When a person is suffering from this dreadful condition, they do not think rationally, and
tend to act upon impulses; the craving is at such an intensity in some cases, that the individual is
willing to put everything at risk, and disregard whatever the consequences may be. Biologically,
the chemical makeup and structure of the brain itself undergoes alterations under the
circumstances that the individual repeats his or her use of drugs. By exciting the nerves within
the reward center of the brain, the recipient experiences a feeling of thrill themselves. (Brain
Facts) When a brain undergoes a serious blunt trauma, There is a high chance that brain tissue,
neurons, or nerves could have been severely ravaged, and this may lead to a variation of negative
conditions; hematomas, blood clots, contusions (bruising of the brain tissue), concussions, strokes,
and cerebral edema (swelling within the skull of a person) are all high on the list of disorders
caused by injury to the brain. The ability to connect with the rest of the human body may be very

Guantanamo Bay Interrogation

President George Bush, created a detention facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba to hold individuals

intelligence, but could be more effective. The detainees held at Guantanamo Bay are terrorist from

The Trial and Death of Socrates Essay
The portrayal of Socrates, through the book the trial and death of Socrates is one that has created a
fairly controversial character in Western history. In many ways, Socrates changed the idea of
common philosophy in ancient Greece; he transformed their view on philosophy from a study of
why the way things are, into a consideration man. Specifically, he analyzed the virtueand health of
the human soul. Along side commending Socratesfor his strong beliefs, and having the courage to
stand by those convictions, Socrates can be commended for many other desirable characteristics.
Some of those can include being the first martyr to die for his philosophical beliefs and having the
courage to challenge indoctrinated cultural norms is part of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The apology is an account of the speech that Socrates makes during his trial. In Socrates trial, he
is being accused of not recognizing the same gods that the others in Athens recognize
(specifically that those in authority). Instead, Socrates is charged with inventing new gods, and
in doing so is corrupting the youth of Athens to whom, Socrates frequently preaches to about his
theology. Socrates speech, however, is not an apology, as the name may suggest but rather an
explanation of his beliefs. During his trial speech, Socrates makes frequent reference to his
beliefs explaining that his behavior stems from a prophecy by the oracle at Delphi, which
claims that he was the wisest of all men. Although Socrates is honest and direct about these
beliefs, this did not sit well with many of the trial members who were evaluating him. Despite
the fact that Socrates made frequent references to the fact that it is destined for him to be the
wisest of all men, he also recognizes that he does in fact lack in knowledge when it comes to
world affairs. To which, Socrates states only adds to his wisdom as he is aware of the fact that he
does not know everything and that realization alone makes him wiser than most other men. In his
explanation of his behavior, Socrates also adds that part of his duty as a wise man, is to make sure
that he questions the behavior of other wise men to make sure that those men are also aware

Dear Virginia Governor, President, and whomever else it may concern,

We always have to work harder to get to where the whites are, it may take us a year to have

continue. We have faith in our children and we want the best of the best for them just as anyone
else. Taking hand me down books, or even using materials that are not legible, are not good
learning materials. I want to be able to say that I made a difference for those who are coming in

How Endocrine System Works
How does the Endocrine system work? The function of the endocrine system is to regulate body
activities, similar to the nervous system in that they both regulate body activities. The difference is
that the nervous system uses electrical messengers to send signals to the body, and the endocrine
system uses chemical messengers hormones to make the changes to effect changes within the body.
The endocrine systemwork together with the nervous system to help control body function and

The novel The Light in the Forest portrays the fictional tale of a white boy raised by Indians, who
is sent back to a society he has been raised to hate. He must learn to adapt to the new society, and

The Lightin the Forest is unbiased between the two cultures, proved through historical events that

Richter s book is unbiased, supported by the similarity of the historical events in reality and those

Spina Bifida Case Study
If I were in the position that Sarah and Mike were in, I would agree to proceed with the operation
on the baby. The goal would be to provide the baby to have the best quality of life for his future.
Having this operation will prevent an infection from occurring due to the fluid causing the brain to
swell. (MacKinnon)
Researching the defect known as spina bifida would be highly advised for Sarah and Mike. Once
they have an understanding of what the defect is and the severity on their baby boy, they can then
look into the benefits versus the risks of having the operation. Spina bifida is a defect that originates
while the mother is still pregnant with the fetus. The spinal cord and brain are expected to have
been fully closed and developed by the fourth week after conception. (Mayo Clinic) If the spinal
cord does not fully develop, this means that there is still an opening in what is known as the neural
tube.
The severity and the effects that will be expected on the baby all depend on how the neural tube
failed to close. This involves where the neural tube still has an opening and how big that opening
is. Another factor that has to be considered when finding where the opening is, is what spinal
nerves are involved. (CDC) In the case of Sarah and Mike s baby ... Show more content on

Argumentative Essay On Vladimir Putin
In recent times, no one can take total power by force alone; you must offer something favorable to
the people in order to obtain support. Unfortunately, there are some countries that follow a
dictatorship system, which is a form of government that includes social and political power to
ensure that the individual s capability remains strong. Vladimir Putinis a contemporary dictator of
Russia. His rebelliousness as a child has led him to his leadership. His cold heartedness to his
rivals and invasion towards countries has led to an opposition towards him. Vladimir Putin s
experience as a street thug led him to his leadership, which easily rose him to power: Not only has
he committed crimes against humanity, but he has made groups of people and countries oppose him.
First of all, Putin had a very unique background. Masha Gessen, Russian and American journalist,
author, translator and activist who has been an outspoken critic of Russian President Vladimir

The Efficient Markets Hypothesis Posits That `` Security...
The efficient markets hypothesis posits that security prices fully reflect all available information
(Fama, 1991). In an efficient market, a stock s price accurately depicts its fundamental value.
However, researchers have shown that real markets are actually inefficient, and are hindered by
risky arbitrage and irrational investors. Because of market frictions, incomplete information, and
systematic biases, stock prices react to changes in uninformed demand in addition to actual
fundamental shifts, resulting in sustained and pervasive mispricing. This essay aims to challenge
the theory of market efficiency, and in so doing, support the position that stock prices do not always
reflect stocks fundamental values. Riskless arbitrage is one underlying assumption of the efficient
markets hypothesis. It theorizes that any opportunities to profit through mispriced stocks will be
immediately exploited by savvy arbitrageurs and subsequently eliminated, returning market price to
equilibrium at its fundamental value. However, in real markets, arbitrage is risky due to market
frictions and incomplete information (Shleifer Summers, 1990). The market friction of transaction
costs such as commission and the bid ask spread may limit the willingness of investors to participate
in arbitrage. Likewise, incomplete information creates risk for arbitrageurs, particularly when
shorting overvalued stocks. The market may potentially do well and thus justify the overpricing, or
the market may

Essay on The Chrysanthemums
Everything is everything in the world of short stories. Steinbeck s The Chrysanthemums is full of
thick rhetoric that raises questions and stirs the mind and imagination. Everything from the title, to
the last line needs to be thought about more than once. The story isn t just about a farmer s wife
who likes pretty flowers. Not in the least! The Chrysanthemums is a story about how Elisa Allen
is forced to a life that she feels is trapping her. The story is set in the early twentieth century and

Toward the end of the story she realizes she was taken. Elisa had been taken advantage of because
the man had no need for the chrysanthemums. On page 293 she finds the chrysanthemums and
earth in the dark speck on the road. He kept the pot, her fifty cents, and a small piece of her pride
but disregarded the flowers. His story of the woman who wanted chrysanthemums was just a facade
and a devious scheme to get work.
The chrysanthemum is cut every year before it blooms. Elisa said that helping them bloom is the
hardest part. This is also a way the flower is like Elisa. Even though she is cut down, she tries to
grow right back so to speak. In this way she is strong like the flower, but also very delicate in the
fact that it only takes one man to humiliate her and cut her right back down to size. Elisa is a
very strong woman, and the word strong is language that is used quite often in this story. Like
the strong, resilient chrysanthemum so is Elisa. On page 285 Henry Allen tells his wife that she
has a strong new crop coming. With an arrogance she says Yes. They ll be strong this coming
year. The word strong itself is a way the language in the story has a little something extra on it.
Healing is the longest, hardest part about anyone being put down and humiliated. Eventually she
will bloom again and it is like she was never hurt. When Henry says she has a strong crop,
Steinbeck is referring to Elisa s state of mind. At the time of the statement, Elisa was

there is a disturbance and if we continue taking estrogen rich foods we will disrupt the endocrine

The aim for women in Jane Austen s time was not to get a professional career. Women at any rate
in the middle classes and in the prosperous families did not get an education and work, at this
time women s education was to learn to dance, play the piano and sing. With that their career
was to get married to a good husband and a good husband meant a wealthy man which meant a
life without any economic worries. If she did not marry her brother and father had to provide for
her. If she did not have a brother she would have to live off what she had inherited off her father,
which was often very little. Thus one can understand the importance of marriage at this time in
the past. Yet in today s society the time in which Bridget Jones s Diary was directed women
could usually provide for themselves. This was because unlike Austen s time an education and a
job is now available to females. In this was they are not economically dependent on a husband, and
marriage is not seen as an urgency, yet it is still seen as an ideal.
This urgency to be married is shown continuously throughout Pride and Prejudice. It is seen as
very desirable for women to be married in their early twenties, this is shown as Charlotte Lucas
purely marries Mr. Collins in convenience as she was in her late twenties and was В‘running out of

Othello is depicted by the author as the hero of love as he is ready to safeguard the love of his life.
On the other hand Oroonoko is determined to give the love of his life Imoinda a better life

extent of organizing a slave revolt in order to ensure his family does not grow out of slavery.
Despite their effort they are betrayed by their closest allies and this is the reason that results to
their downfall. Othello is betrayed by Lago while Oroonoko is betrayed by his own military

jealousy which affects some of the characters making them get involved in some vices which are
not appropriate. Lago sacrifices the friendship and trust that Othello had bestowed upon him due to
the jealousy he had for Michael Cassio over the rank he had been promoted to. Also in The Royal

Animal Captivity Dilemma
The Dilemma of Animal Captivity Animal captivity is an extremely important, and often
overlooked problem that we, as human beings, have placed on nature and the animals that live in
the endangered environment. There are groups of people worldwide who are extremely against
animal captivity because of the drastic and permanent effects it leaves on the animals. These ideas
of hatred against animalcaptivity are expressed in small ways such as posting a picture on
Instagram that represents animal cruelty in captivity. Another way these ideas can be expressed
is through large representations such as movies. Films such as Jurassic World and Blackfish are
prime examples of this. Both of these films are representing the severe repercussions that can
come from keeping large, dangerous animals in captivity. Though Jurassic World is a fictional
movie, it is able to send the message that having animals that are dangerous in captivity is
something that is very dangerous. Blackfish offers a real and terrifying glimpse into what happens
to the mindset of animals who are put into captivity and the threat that those animals pose to not
only other animals in captivity but also the humans who are in charge of looking after these
animals. This problem of taking animals away from their natural habitat and placing them in
captivity is a prime example of how humanity is trying to assert itself as dominant of everything
else. Mankind has thought of itself as a protector of the wild animals by

The Externalities Of Taxation On Capital Gain
The externalities of taxation on capital gain have been a controversial debate among scholars,

United States. This introduction covers all the possible externalities that change in marginal tax
rate can have on investors incentives and timing to sell, portfolio strategy, tax revenue collected by
the government and the social welfare changes.
The first thing to clarify is that there are both positive and negative externalities on the effect of
taxation on capital gain. Timing to realize the capital gain is paramount since in the United States

Since a higher tax rate leads to a lower amount of realization on capital gain, it would consequently
reduce the transaction fees or commission fees charged by the agencies, which eventually reduces
the market activity and causes a welfare loss.
The externality of a lower tax rate on the tax revenue could go either way. When we only consider
the static analysis, we have a negative externality that the tax revenue decreases obviously since
the same amount of realization is being taxed at a lower rate. When we consider other offsetting
factors, positive externalities come in to play important roles. The first positive externality is due
to the unlocking effect that increases the amount of realization on capital gain, which therefore
increases the tax revenue. The other positive externality is that lowering the tax rate on capital
gain would result in an increase in tax revenue due to peopleing pay taxes on higher value of their
assets when realized since the value of existing stocks increases.
The two articles I m comparing in this paper, The Effects of Taxation on the Selling of Corporate

we always judge what we don t understand. I would assume that this field of work could lead to
compassion fatigue and burnout due to the types of patients they care for. For example, when I
worked in MedSurg I had a patient on the unit that was a frequent flyer and attempted suicide
multiple times. She would stay on my unit they could place her on behavioral health, and it
seemed like every time she was admitted I was always working. I never had her as a patient but I
had spent a lot of time talking with her through the night. Some of the nurses that cared

The Wife s Lament
The two poems known as The Wife s Lament and The Lament of the Old Woman of Beare have
numerous similar qualities even though they both come from different people. The Wife s Lament
is an Old English poem that is exceptionally heavy with emotional content; it is a monologue from
the perspective of a sorrowful womanwho appears to be undergoing significant sorrows due to
separation from her husband, most likely the result of exile. The other poem, The Lament of the
Old Woman of Beare, is an Irish poem with a first person narrator with the voice of a woman that
discusses the lamenting of old age. These are the rudimentary plots of the two poems, leading to the
similarities that these pieces of literature share, namely the theme of sorrows

Undocumented Immigrants
In the past few years a dispute has risen in the middle of the controversy about illegal immigration
and border security. Are the children of illegal immigrants U.S. citizens? This a question that has
provoked intense arguments and various attempts to change the birth right law established in the
Fourteen Amendment. Many conservative people believe the sons and daughters of undocumented
immigrants shouldn t be granted American citizenship. They interpret the 14th amendment to
exclude anyone whose parents are not legal residents of this country. There has even been attempts
to change the Constitution and the Fourteen Amendment more exclusive. Doing so would leave
many people without nationally. Regardless of the countless arguments everyone... Show more

Not only from trying to figure out who is a citizen and who is not but once millions lose the
right to every part of being an American the economy would suffer. There s millions of adults
with illegal parents, many of them also have a college education and a job that contributes to the
U.S. economy. If their citizenship is revoked they would be deported along with their parents to
the parents homelands, Mexico for example who according to the Pew Hispanic Center
attributes about 59% of all immigrants in the U.S. In that case with so many people being sent
there, Mexico would experience a great economic growth. Economic growth that would be
caused by an increase in numbers in the work force and the experience and knowledge many
people who used to work in the U.S. would have. According to Granting Illegal Immigrants a
Path to Citizenship Would Boost US and State Economies by Robert Lynch if illegal immigrants
were legalized they would attribute billions of dollar to the economy. In a time frame of ten years
the GDP [a measure of total economic output], of the United States would be $832 billion. Now
imagine what would happen if all those illegal immigrants with potential to help the economy
doubled in number by taking away U.S. citizenship from native born people and instead of
legalizing them they were all deported to solve the immigration problem. How

Psychoanalysis Of Good Will Hunting
Psychoanalysis of Will Hunting Good Will Hunting is a good example of how someone with
psychological disorders can overcome their issues through therapy. This is a classic film that was
released in 1997. It was directed by Gus Van Sant, and written by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon.
The key actors of this movie include Matt Damon, Robin Williams, Ben Affleck, Minnie Driver and
Stellan SkarsgГҐrd, with Damon being the main character, Will. In the movie Good Will Hunting,
director Gus Van Sant shows that Will suffers from psychological disorders through the use of the

accepting love. When Skylar, his girlfriend asks him to go to California with her, he chokes her.
Shortly after, he breaks up with her. This most likely resembles Cluster C avoidant personality

are extremely sensitive to rejection. Connors wrote, Specifically, individuals with an avoidant

Personal Essay
In a lot of the winters and summers growing up I would walk down the same path through the
northern woods down to the lake. In the summer it was gorgeous, the trees are in full bloom and
you can hear the leaves rustling in the wind and crunching under your feet. Walking down that
path was always my favorite in the winter though, all the trees are bare and every branch has
snow and ice on it and it seems like you can just see through the woods forever because there s
nothing blocking the view. Once you get down to the lake and walk out onto the dock it s such a
gorgeous view. The ice frozen over, the trees surrounding covered in snow, all the other houses
and docks. Visiting my grandparents is one of my favorite memories growing up. I loved going
to see my grandparents because everything was just so different from where I lived, and they
will always be some of my favorite people to see. I would always stay in the same little guest
bedroom that they had and my grandma would always try and set up the tv for me in their every
time. My grandparents liked birds, they even have a clock in their kitchen that has a different bird
for every hour. I never really found birds interesting but when I would sit at their kitchen table and
look out the big window that overlooked part of their yard, suddenly I was interested just like
them. I would watch the hummingbirds come up to the window and drink the juice that my
grandma put in a feeder for them, or use a pair of my

Economic Growth and Development
ECONOMIC GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT
Introduction
Economies grow and develop, they expand and advance, and they progress and prosper. There are
phases when they decline too, and there are economies that experience continuous decay. If one
considers long stretches of human history, one knows that economies (civilizations) disappeared
altogether. We will not take into account such long stretches of time. We shall not consider too
distant a past either. We will leave them to historians, may be, economic historians.
Let us take a normal view. We shall then accept decline as an occasional, temporary phenomenon.
We shall, therefore, use positive terms only. Of the positive terms, which have been used to
describe changes as well as to prescribe ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The growth rate is often expressed in terms of per cent per annum. This is a positive change; there
could be a negative change also.
Suppose, we look at a twenty year period and use yearly figures for flow of output of goods,
which is measured in terms of GDPFC at constant prices. The growth rates calculated on yearly
basis would differ from year to year. Shall we use nineteen year to year figures of growth rate,
some of which may be negative, to describe the change? Or, should we just compare the initial
figure with the final figure? If we adopt the former, how to summarise the nineteen figures? If
we adopt the latter, it is possible that one of these (initial or final) figures is just abnormal as it
does not fall in line. Would it not be a good idea to speak of general tendency and ignore abnormal
fluctuations around the general tendency of increase? Economic growth should, therefore, be
taken as a long term tendency reflected by increase in flow of final goods and services produced by
the economy.
If there is a general tendency of growth but there are occurrences of decline, the rates of growth
will be negative in certain years. Shall we then say that, while the potential of economy to produce
is continuously increasing, the potential is sometimes not realised? There could be various reasons
for occasional decline. In economies that depend to a large extent on external trade

Speech About Coconut
Coconut (Cocos nucifera L.) is one of the main crops which is abundantly produced in the
Philippines. Coconut can be served as food and can be produced to various products and by
products. Some food examples are copra, coconut oil, coconut milk, latik, desiccated coconut,
coconut flour, etc. As compared to other agricultural crops, coconutprovides more products and by
products since all of its parts starting from the tree itself to the fruits has its uses. Hence, many
people especially in Southeast Asia, Pacific region, Africa and some countries in Latin America,
considered coconut as a significant crop in agriculture and industries (The Coconut Industry, n.d.).
Since supply of coconut is very essential to many countries, it is essential to monitor its production.
The production per land area can be quantified through crop yield.
Crop yield is used to determine the efficiency of food production. Basically, it is the amount of
produced crop per area of land. Moreover, it is sometimes called as agricultural output and
conveyed in kilograms/hectare or metric tons/hectare. Essentially, the use of evaluating the crop

Different Types Of Movements Are Performed During Ballet...
Many different types of movements are performed during ballet dancing. One of the most common
types of move is a turn, commonly referred to as a pirouette. A pirouette is a french term that was
started around the seventeen hundreds to mean a dancer turning (Lim, 2015). Pirouette is a general
description of a turn. Some detailed examples of pirouettes are en dedans, en dehors, attitudes,
arabesque turns, grande pirouettes, fouettГ©s, and vertical pirouettes (Law, 2014). During the
Renaissance era in sixteenth century Italy, vertical pirouettes were developed for ballets. When a
dancer begins dance classes a vertical pirouette, it is one the first movements that they will learn.
This paper is about how to perform the vertical pirouette movement correctly as described in
biomechanics terms. Pirouettes are turns that can be executed in either direction of rotation. There
are five different phases for a pirouette. The phases are the preliminary phase, recovery phase, force
producing phase, the critical instant phase, and the follow through phase. Each phase had a
different biomechanical principle that is applied, some phases could have more then one principle.
During the preliminary phase, there is hiprotation, kneeflexion, foot dorsiflexion with placement in
the dominant and non dominant. A dance wants their support to have a wide base and also they
need to have a low center of gravity. The movement for the arms are abduction and extension with

A Brief Note On The And Its Effects On The Environment
CHAPTER 4
POLLUTION DUE TO EMISSIONS
IC engines generate undesirable emissions during the combustion process. The emissions exhausted
into the surroundings pollute the atmosphere and causes following problems.
Global warming
Acid rain
Smog
Odors
Respiratory and other health hazards.
The major causes of these emissions are non stoichiometric combustion, dissociation of nitrogen,
and impurities in the fuel and air. The emissions of concern are unburnt hydro carbons (HC),
oxides of carbon (COX), oxides of nitrogen (NOX), oxides of sulphur (SOX) and solid carbon
particulates.
It is the dream of engineers and scientists to develop engines and fuels such that very few quantity
of harmful emissions are generated, and these could be let into the surroundings without a major
impact on the environment. However with the present technology this is not possible, and after
treatment of the exhaust gases as well as in cylinder reduction of emissions is important.
4.1 AIR POLLUTION DUE TO IC ENGINES
Until the middle of the 20th century the number of IC engines in the world was so small that the
pollution they caused was tolerable. During that period the environment, with the help of sunlight,
stayed relatively clean. As world population grew, power plants, factories, and an ever increasing
number of automobiles began to pollute the air to the extent that it is no longer acceptable. During
the late 1940s, air pollution as a problem was first recognized in the Los Angeles basin

Ireland many people had to pay for their own fares to emigrate to the U.S.A., Canada, and

Kant And Kant s Moral Ethics
According to Kant, We have these absolute duties to ourselves and these duties to oneself become
the supreme principle of all duties. Therefore, these supreme self duties are the reason why moral
ethics exist, and without our duties to oneself there would be no other duties, nor would we, as a
species, survive at all. However, these self regarding duties can be very contradicting, but can help
us understand the bigger picture of the categorical imperative.
Kant believes that we must act only according to that maxim whereby you can at the same time will
that it should become a universal law. (Grounding, 421) This one and only categorical imperative is
the starting principle of all other imperatives of duty. In relation to these imperatives, duties to
others are derived from our own duties to ourselves. Initially, Kant introduces both perfect and
imperfect duties to oneself and to others, which ultimately follow the categorical imperative.
First the perfect duty to oneself is to not commit suicide. This duty questions the principle of self
love and how it can be held as a universal law of nature, but this is where the contradiction begins.
In this example, the principle of self love cannot be a universal law because in this case this law
would destroy life by means of the very same feeling that acts so as to stimulate the furtherance of
life, and hence there could be no existence as a system of nature. (Grounding, 422) Therefore, the
opposite of this maxim of retaining

The Chemical Substance Of Hydrogen Atoms
Introduction:
Water is a chemical substance composed atomically of an oxygen atom, and two hydrogen atoms,
giving it the chemical formula H2O . It has a bent molecular structure, with the centralised oxygen
atom at the top of the molecule with two lone pairs of electrons above it, and the two hydrogen
atoms branching out below, each connected to the oxygen by covalent bonds. VSEPR (Valence
Shell Electron Pair Repulsion) Theory is utilised in chemistry for the prediction of a molecules
geometry. This theory was constructed off the idea that valence electron pairs around an atomhave a
tendency to repel each other, thus forcing the molecule to organise itself in a manner that creates
the least possible electron repulsion. By observing a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the electrons are positioned closer to the oxygen atom, the upper segment of the molecule is
slightly negatively charged (gaining negative charge from electron) and the lower segment is
slightly positively charged (losing negative charge from electron) . Therefore water is a polar
molecule.
A polar molecule is a molecule that possesses a negative charge at one end, and a positive charge
at another end, caused by the positioning of the electrons due to electronegativity. However, a
molecule can have a positive and a negative charged end and still be non polar. Dipoles are a
measure of polarity that are caused by a variation in electronegativity. The difference in
electronegativity results in an atom having a greater pull on the shared pair of electrons. If the
shape of a molecule causes equal dipole magnitude and an equal distance between the dipole
vectors, then the dipoles cancel out and the molecule is considered non polar .A polar molecule
possesses a neutral net charge as the positive and negative sections of the molecule eliminate an
imbalance in charge. Polarity is exclusive to covalent bonded compounds, as electron sharing is
required in order for partial positivity and partial negativity to occur. The only covalent molecules
that don t contain polar bonds are those including atoms that possess an equal electronegativity,
such as H2, or O2, as neither atom possesses a larger attractive force than the other acting upon the
electrons .

What Is The Role Of Women In The 1800 s
There were not many jobs women could have in britain during the early and mid 1800 s.
However, late in the decade women started to try to get jobs and break their stereotype as the

when he wrote Far from the madding Crowd. Women In the late 1800 s Women began to

Bathsheba is a representation of this movement. In Great Britain there women were expected to

could not work in the fields. It was very uncommon for women to work as a bailiff and hire or

too fragile to survive in the world of men. Women also had to make sure that they always had a

Social Media And The Communication Style Of The Millennials
According to Angelo Young in How social media is dumbing down our communication , the large
number of people who use the internet in generation X only had one or two accounts, texting was
boring and expensive, and mobile phone is designed only to call other people. Technology
develops rapidly on social media, which changes the communicationstyle of the Millennials, the
group of people born at the beginning of the 21st century and in the 20th century. Communication
is a process of sharing not only information and ideas but also meanings and feelings. However,
social media is changing the way people communicate with each other. Social media have made
differences in the communication style of the Millennials in contrast to the previous generation in
the context of the communication form and the way people share their feelings. Social media
has brought differences with the communication form of the millennials compared with the
previous generation. The previous generation used to talk to others face to face before the
invention of social media. They didn t have lots of Internet friends compared to the Millennials,
so they spent most of the time talking to their family members. My mother is a member of the
previous generation. She told me that she and her friends who lived on the same street would
meet once a week sharing stories and work experiences. My mother concluded her time was fun
and gratifying. As Kate Gale expressed in Life before email and social media , people

Similarities Between Thor And Scavengers
Once upon a time, Thor and Loki were traveling to Jotunheim, the giant kingdom, in this chariot
pulled by magic immortal goats. They had to go through Midgard, the human y place. They spent
the night at this farmer Egil s house. Egil had these kids, Roskva and Thjalfi. So Thor slaughtered
his pet goats and they all feasted. Thortold Egil, Roskva, and Thjalfi to lay the skins and bones of
the goats together in a pile after they were done eating so he could bring the goat s back to life
later, because magic...?
After everyone went to sleep, Thjalfi went and sucked the marrow out of some of the bones for a
bedtime snack. In the morning, when the goats mystically came back to life, one was lame,
because the bone marrow in one of its legs was missing. Thor had anger issues, so he said he he

Egil promised his children as servants to Thor for compensation because child labor, and that

Proclaimers, and eventually came upon the dark woods of the mountainous world of Jotunheim.
Here they met Skrymir. This giant s snoring was so loud, it caused earthquakes! As Anger Issue
Man needs his beauty sleep, Thor tried to annihilate Skrymir in his sleep. Thor threw Mjölnir

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Polymer Nannocomposites
Polymer composites are the blend of polymers and filler materials. Disadvantages of polymers such
as low mechanical and electronic properties can be improved through reinforcing with much
stronger and highly conducting filler materials. Thus, fabricating polymer composites is of mutual
benefit to both polymersand fillers. Furthermore, advanced desired applications can be tailor made.
Also, compared to polymermicro/nanocomposites, polymer nanocomposites show much more
improved properties such as extremely smooth finishing, excellent mechanical and electrical
properties at lower loadings as low as 0.025 volume % (Schandler, Brinson Sawyer 2007). In the
current chapter, both polymer microcomposites and polymer nanocomposites are briefly discussed.

Each category has its own advantages and disadvantages. For example, thermoplastics soften on
heating and eventually melt like metals (Dyson 1990). The present chapter concentrates on two
popular thermoplastics such as poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) and poly(methyl methacrylate)
(PMMA) for fabricating conducting polymer nanocomposites (Kennedy Taylor 1991).
Thermosetting polymers are very common types of polymers, widely used for making conducting
polymer composites. Almost 5th of polymers are used are thermosetting polymers as they find
applications as they are used as composites, adhesives, and coatings (Allin 2004) These polymers
are also called as thermosets which do not melt upon heating, cannot regain its shape once it is
moulded. Among the three plastics, polyester is easy to use and very cheap. Vinyl ester shows the
best chemical resistance compared to other, and high mechanical properties than polyester. Epoxy is
expensive than vinyl esters. The present report discusses the three types of thermosets such as

  • 2. Space Debris Impact On Spacecraft Effects of space debris on spacecraft. a Effects of large debris. Large debris is defined as any junk larger than 10 centimeters. Encounters with large space debris are not rare events to astronauts working in space. On several notable occasions, large debris has hit or has nearly hit space crafts. The first collision to be clearly identified was in 1996, when the operational Cerise, a French military satellite, collided with a large piece of junk from a disintegrated Ariane rocket (Reichhardt 2009). The impact cut into a 20 foot portion of Cerise s gravity gradient stabilization boom. The Cerise satellite luckily survived, despite the sustained damage. Moreover, several space crafts have had to perform collision avoidance maneuvers to escape collision with large space debris. For example, in 2014, debris from the defunct Russian satellite, Cosmos 2251, nearly collided with the International Space Station(Pardini et al. 2017). The International Space Station, however, was able to fire all of its thrusters quickly enough to avoid the collision. b Effects of small debris. Any debris less than 10mm in size is considered small (NASA, 2016). Collisions with small size debris may not damage the spacecraft at the time, but could cause damage that eventually leads to major problems. In 2016, for instance, a 7mm piece of debris struck a window of the International Space Station s cupola (Griggs, 2016). The debris did not break the window of the spacecraft, but did leave a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Especially the patterns used for query processing follow an experimental behavior, which changes so randomly that it cannot be anticipated. So, these type of environments cannot be handled by offline indexing. Online indexing and adaptive indexing are two approaches for designing a physical design automatically in such dynamic and exploratory environments, but none of them handles the problem adequately when isolated. 2.Clear statements of the solution(s) of the paper (up to 2 pages only): The paper discusses about the problems faced when using the index tuning and a solution is implemented to improve the performance of the database system called the holistic indexing, a novel approach which automates the process of index tuning in dynamic environments. It requires zero set up and tuning effort, depending on the adaptive index creation as a side effect of processing the queries. The creation of Indices is done incrementally and partially. These created indices are refined constantly as more and more queries are processed. The proposed holistic indexing takes the state of the art adaptive indexing concepts a big step further by introducing the idea of a system which refines the index space continuously and never stops while taking educated decisions about which index to be incrementally refined next based on continuous knowledge acquirement about the running workload and ... • 8. Theme Of The Jilting Of Granny Weatherall Analysis of The Jilting of Granny Weatherall The literary and narrative techniques in a piece of writing are used to make up the story. Characters, setting, plot, and symbols are just a few of the possible elements that authors use to create a story. Each of these qualities are important to develop a storyline, in which readers can relate and understand. Like all literature The Jilting of Granny Weatherall , written by Katherine Anne Porter, is constructed of literary and narrative techniques. The way Porter portrays these techniques allows readers to understand the theme of betrayal. The Jilting of Granny Weatherall uses characters and symbolism to demonstrate the impact of betrayal and disappointment and how it changes a person s life. Since literature revolves around and is told through characters, they are necessary for creating stories. In the Jilting of Granny Weatherall , the characters include Granny, Cornelia, Jimmy, Lydia, Hapsy, Doctor Harry, Father Connolley, the Nurse, John, and George. While many of the characters have necessary roles in the plot, the use of John and George most effectively display the theme of betrayal. These two characters are important for readers to pay attention to because of their influences on Granny s life. In an efficient market, a stock s price accurately depicts its fundamental value. However, researchers have shown that real markets are actually inefficient, and are hindered by risky arbitrage and irrational investors. Because of market frictions, incomplete information, and systematic biases, stock prices react to changes in uninformed demand in addition to actual fundamental shifts, resulting in sustained and pervasive mispricing. This essay aims to challenge the theory of market efficiency, and in so doing, support the position that stock prices do not always reflect stocks fundamental values. Riskless arbitrage is one underlying assumption of the efficient markets hypothesis. It theorizes that any opportunities to profit through mispriced stocks will be immediately exploited by savvy arbitrageurs and subsequently eliminated, returning market price to equilibrium at its fundamental value. However, in real markets, arbitrage is risky due to market frictions and incomplete information (Shleifer Summers, 1990). The market friction of transaction costs such as commission and the bid ask spread may limit the willingness of investors to participate in arbitrage. Likewise, incomplete information creates risk for arbitrageurs, particularly when shorting overvalued stocks. Directed by Sharon Maguire in 2001, one hundred and eighty eight years after Pride and Prejudice was published in 1813, with that, Bridget Jones s Diary would seem be quite diverse to Pride and Prejudice. But it is actually a highly imaginative interpretation of the novel. This modern interpretation is seen through the plot, characters, context, values, language and film techniques. The aim for women in Jane Austen s time was not to get a professional career. Women at any rate in the middle classes and in the prosperous families did not get an education and work, at this time women s education was to learn to dance, play the piano and sing. With that their career was to get married to a good husband and a good husband meant a wealthy man which meant a life without any economic worries. If she did not marry her brother and father had to provide for her. If she did not have a brother she would have to live off what she had inherited off her father, which was often very little. Thus one can understand the importance of marriage at this time in the past. Yet in today s society the time in which Bridget Jones s Diary was directed women could usually provide for themselves. This was because unlike Austen s time an education and a job is now available to females. In this was they are not economically dependent on a husband, and marriage is not seen as an urgency, yet it is still seen as an ideal. This urgency to be married is shown continuously throughout Pride and Prejudice. Othello is depicted by the author as the hero of love as he is ready to safeguard the love of his life. On the other hand Oroonoko is determined to give the love of his life Imoinda a better life despite the slim possibility they had because they were both slaves. This makes him go to the extent of organizing a slave revolt in order to ensure his family does not grow out of slavery. Despite their effort they are betrayed by their closest allies and this is the reason that results to their downfall. Othello is betrayed by Lago while Oroonoko is betrayed by his own military men and later captured as a slave. • 36. Animal Captivity Dilemma The Dilemma of Animal Captivity Animal captivity is an extremely important, and often overlooked problem that we, as human beings, have placed on nature and the animals that live in the endangered environment. There are groups of people worldwide who are extremely against animal captivity because of the drastic and permanent effects it leaves on the animals. These ideas of hatred against animalcaptivity are expressed in small ways such as posting a picture on Instagram that represents animal cruelty in captivity. Another way these ideas can be expressed is through large representations such as movies. Films such as Jurassic World and Blackfish are prime examples of this. Both of these films are representing the severe repercussions that can come from keeping large, dangerous animals in captivity. Though Jurassic World is a fictional movie, it is able to send the message that having animals that are dangerous in captivity is something that is very dangerous. Blackfish offers a real and terrifying glimpse into what happens to the mindset of animals who are put into captivity and the threat that those animals pose to not only other animals in captivity but also the humans who are in charge of looking after these animals. This problem of taking animals away from their natural habitat and placing them in captivity is a prime example of how humanity is trying to assert itself as dominant of everything else. The Externalities Of Taxation On Capital Gain The externalities of taxation on capital gain have been a controversial debate among scholars, economists and policy makers along the timeline of ever changing tax reforms in the history of the United States. This introduction covers all the possible externalities that change in marginal tax rate can have on investors incentives and timing to sell, portfolio strategy, tax revenue collected by the government and the social welfare changes. The first thing to clarify is that there are both positive and negative externalities on the effect of taxation on capital gain. Timing to realize the capital gain is paramount since in the United States long term gains (typically 1 year or more) will be taxed at a significantly lower rate than ordinary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since a higher tax rate leads to a lower amount of realization on capital gain, it would consequently reduce the transaction fees or commission fees charged by the agencies, which eventually reduces the market activity and causes a welfare loss. The externality of a lower tax rate on the tax revenue could go either way. When we only consider the static analysis, we have a negative externality that the tax revenue decreases obviously since the same amount of realization is being taxed at a lower rate. When we consider other offsetting factors, positive externalities come in to play important roles. The first positive externality is due to the unlocking effect that increases the amount of realization on capital gain, which therefore increases the tax revenue. The other positive externality is that lowering the tax rate on capital gain would result in an increase in tax revenue due to peopleing pay taxes on higher value of their assets when realized since the value of existing stocks increases. There are phases when they decline too, and there are economies that experience continuous decay. If one considers long stretches of human history, one knows that economies (civilizations) disappeared altogether. We will not take into account such long stretches of time. We shall not consider too distant a past either. We will leave them to historians, may be, economic historians. Let us take a normal view. This is a positive change; there could be a negative change also. Suppose, we look at a twenty year period and use yearly figures for flow of output of goods, which is measured in terms of GDPFC at constant prices. The growth rates calculated on yearly basis would differ from year to year. Shall we use nineteen year to year figures of growth rate, some of which may be negative, to describe the change? Or, should we just compare the initial figure with the final figure? If we adopt the former, how to summarise the nineteen figures? If we adopt the latter, it is possible that one of these (initial or final) figures is just abnormal as it does not fall in line. Would it not be a good idea to speak of general tendency and ignore abnormal fluctuations around the general tendency of increase? Economic growth should, therefore, be taken as a long term tendency reflected by increase in flow of final goods and services produced by the economy. If there is a general tendency of growth but there are occurrences of decline, the rates of growth will be negative in certain years. Shall we then say that, while the potential of economy to produce is continuously increasing, the potential is sometimes not realised? There could be various reasons for occasional decline. The emissions exhausted into the surroundings pollute the atmosphere and causes following problems. Global warming Acid rain Smog Odors Respiratory and other health hazards. The major causes of these emissions are non stoichiometric combustion, dissociation of nitrogen, and impurities in the fuel and air. The emissions of concern are unburnt hydro carbons (HC), oxides of carbon (COX), oxides of nitrogen (NOX), oxides of sulphur (SOX) and solid carbon particulates. It is the dream of engineers and scientists to develop engines and fuels such that very few quantity of harmful emissions are generated, and these could be let into the surroundings without a major impact on the environment. Such as: the importance of family, the importance of religion and spiritualism, womanas center of home and family, respect protection of woman s virtue; ideal of women as pure, power of the woman the mother, being a man man as protector of the family, pride of man to be a... Juan Salvador and Lupe were destined to find each other. Later Juan and Lupe would marry and have a family of their own. Both families emphasis the importance of family. In this sense family is defined as your immediate family consisting of your parents, brother (s) and/or sister (s). No man, no matter how wonderful, is to be put before a women s first loyalty, which is her family.... So understand you re no child, and you first loyalty is to your brother and sister and me la familia , Dona Guadalupe saying this to Lupe (p. 42). Lupe s first love was the Colonel who was fighting in the Revolution. Everyone in the box canyon believed that the Colonel would steal their gold mine and give it to the Americans. Lupe loved this man with all her heart and couldn t believe that anyone thought he would do such a thing to hurt the people of Mexico. And Dona Guadalupe had to tell her that her first loyalty should be to her family and it didn t revolve around the man you love. The goal of both families was to one day see their children be married and have children of their own. The importance of religion and spiritualism is what held these families together through all they had to endure. Dona Margarita once told Juan Salvador, Do you really think God stopped talking to us, His people, with the Jews and the Bible. Oh, no mi ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 53. Kant And Kant s Moral Ethics According to Kant, We have these absolute duties to ourselves and these duties to oneself become the supreme principle of all duties. Therefore, these supreme self duties are the reason why moral ethics exist, and without our duties to oneself there would be no other duties, nor would we, as a species, survive at all. However, these self regarding duties can be very contradicting, but can help us understand the bigger picture of the categorical imperative. Kant believes that we must act only according to that maxim whereby you can at the same time will that it should become a universal law. (Grounding, 421) This one and only categorical imperative is the starting principle of all other imperatives of duty. In relation to these imperatives, duties to others are derived from our own duties to ourselves. Initially, Kant introduces both perfect and imperfect duties to oneself and to others, which ultimately follow the categorical imperative. First the perfect duty to oneself is to not commit suicide. This duty questions the principle of self love and how it can be held as a universal law of nature, but this is where the contradiction begins. In this example, the principle of self love cannot be a universal law because in this case this law would destroy life by means of the very same feeling that acts so as to stimulate the furtherance of life, and hence there could be no existence as a system of nature. (Grounding, 422) Therefore, the opposite of this maxim of retaining ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 55. The Chemical Substance Of Hydrogen Atoms Introduction: Water is a chemical substance composed atomically of an oxygen atom, and two hydrogen atoms, giving it the chemical formula H2O . It has a bent molecular structure, with the centralised oxygen atom at the top of the molecule with two lone pairs of electrons above it, and the two hydrogen atoms branching out below, each connected to the oxygen by covalent bonds. VSEPR (Valence Shell Electron Pair Repulsion) Theory is utilised in chemistry for the prediction of a molecules geometry. This theory was constructed off the idea that valence electron pairs around an atomhave a tendency to repel each other, thus forcing the molecule to organise itself in a manner that creates the least possible electron repulsion. By observing a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As the electrons are positioned closer to the oxygen atom, the upper segment of the molecule is slightly negatively charged (gaining negative charge from electron) and the lower segment is slightly positively charged (losing negative charge from electron) . Therefore water is a polar molecule. A polar molecule is a molecule that possesses a negative charge at one end, and a positive charge at another end, caused by the positioning of the electrons due to electronegativity. However, a molecule can have a positive and a negative charged end and still be non polar. Dipoles are a measure of polarity that are caused by a variation in electronegativity. The difference in electronegativity results in an atom having a greater pull on the shared pair of electrons. If the shape of a molecule causes equal dipole magnitude and an equal distance between the dipole vectors, then the dipoles cancel out and the molecule is considered non polar .A polar molecule possesses a neutral net charge as the positive and negative sections of the molecule eliminate an imbalance in charge. Polarity is exclusive to covalent bonded compounds, as electron sharing is required in order for partial positivity and partial negativity to occur. The only covalent molecules that don t contain polar bonds are those including atoms that possess an equal electronegativity, such as H2, or O2, as neither atom possesses a larger attractive force than the other acting upon the electrons . ... These were the leaders that founded the People s Republic of China after the Communist victory in the Chinese Civil War. They were born between 1886 and 1907, although the Gang of Four were a distinct subgroup born 1914 to 1935. Most were born before the demise of the Qing Dynasty (not including the Gang) and thus lived to see both the birth and, on the mainland, the end of theRepublic of China. • 57. What Is The Role Of Women In The 1800 s There were not many jobs women could have in britain during the early and mid 1800 s. However, late in the decade women started to try to get jobs and break their stereotype as the weaker gender. They had to slowly change the social mores around women by slowly so that men would not try keep women from advancing. Thomas Hardy brought this into consideration when he wrote Far from the madding Crowd. Women In the late 1800 s Women began to challenge some of the social mores that bound them to society while keeping others ridged Bathsheba is a representation of this movement. In Great Britain there women were expected to behave a certain way. They were not supposed to do most jobs that are done on a farm. Women could not work in the fields. It was very uncommon for women to work as a bailiff and hire or fire farm hands. Many people believed that women could not manage a farm and not be trusted to supervise workers. Women were not supposed to be independent because men believed they were too fragile to survive in the world of men. Women also had to make sure that they always had a companion when they traveled. • 58. Social Media And The Communication Style Of The Millennials According to Angelo Young in How social media is dumbing down our communication , the large number of people who use the internet in generation X only had one or two accounts, texting was boring and expensive, and mobile phone is designed only to call other people. Technology develops rapidly on social media, which changes the communicationstyle of the Millennials, the group of people born at the beginning of the 21st century and in the 20th century. Communication is a process of sharing not only information and ideas but also meanings and feelings. However, social media is changing the way people communicate with each other. Social media have made differences in the communication style of the Millennials in contrast to the previous generation in the context of the communication form and the way people share their feelings. Social media has brought differences with the communication form of the millennials compared with the previous generation. The previous generation used to talk to others face to face before the invention of social media. They didn t have lots of Internet friends compared to the Millennials, so they spent most of the time talking to their family members. My mother is a member of the previous generation. She told me that she and her friends who lived on the same street would meet once a week sharing stories and work experiences. My mother concluded her time was fun and gratifying. • 60. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Polymer Nannocomposites Polymer composites are the blend of polymers and filler materials. Disadvantages of polymers such as low mechanical and electronic properties can be improved through reinforcing with much stronger and highly conducting filler materials. Thus, fabricating polymer composites is of mutual benefit to both polymersand fillers. Furthermore, advanced desired applications can be tailor made. Also, compared to polymermicro/nanocomposites, polymer nanocomposites show much more improved properties such as extremely smooth finishing, excellent mechanical and electrical properties at lower loadings as low as 0.025 volume % (Schandler, Brinson Sawyer 2007). In the current chapter, both polymer microcomposites and polymer nanocomposites are briefly discussed. Filler reinforcements are available in various chemical forms, types, ... The present chapter concentrates on two popular thermoplastics such as poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) and poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) for fabricating conducting polymer nanocomposites (Kennedy Taylor 1991). Thermosetting polymers are very common types of polymers, widely used for making conducting polymer composites. Almost 5th of polymers are used are thermosetting polymers as they find applications as they are used as composites, adhesives, and coatings (Allin 2004) These polymers are also called as thermosets which do not melt upon heating, cannot regain its shape once it is moulded.
