Introduction
A formal discussion in which 10 to 12
participants are formed into a leaderless group
and are given a specific situation to analyze
and discuss within a given time limit and a
panel observes the proceedings and evaluate
the members in the group.

 Group Discussion is a modern method of
assessing candidate personality.
 It is both a technique and an art and a
comprehensive tool to judge the worthiness
of the candidate and his appropriateness for
the job.

The main objective is to make an evaluation those
skills of the candidates which can’t be evaluate in
the interview.

 Group activity carried out by participating
individuals.
 It is an exchange of ideas among the
individuals of a group on a specific topic.
 It is used as reliable, testing device - mainly
as a tool to assess a group at one go -in
order to select the best in comparative
perspective.
 Group Discussion is an informal discussion.
 Its aim is to find out the natural leadership
level of the candidates.

 Always enter the room with a piece of paper
and a pen. In the first two minutes, jot down
as many ideas as you can.
 When you are talking on any topic, ensure
that the group hears you.
 Be clear and audible when you express your
views.
 Should have a good knowledge base. Your
contribution must be relevant and
productive.
 To be a good communicator, you must put
forth your arguments logically.
 The quality of what you said is more
valuable than the quantity.
 You must be clearly seen to be attempting to
build a consensus.
 You must demonstrate the fact that you are
capable and inclined to work as part of the
team.
