This document outlines the plan for an ELA 101 course on analyzing works of fiction. The course will:
1) Teach students how to analyze themes, plots, characters, word choice and tone in fiction through reading Edgar Allan Poe and other authors.
2) Involve blogging, class discussions, and a personal project on a Poe work utilizing available tools.
3) Guide students through steps of considering an author's life and influences, watching a Poe biography video, listening to a podcast of his work, and revisiting initial questions.
