POLYPHONIC FOLLOWS THE UK’S BEST DJ ON HIS DEBUT
AMERICAN TOUR
Y
ou could instantly feel his electrifying vibe within his presence as he enters the room. His excuse for
being late was typical and ironic, as he revealed to us how he took time to recover from the hangover
he had gone through this morning from a hectic party he had come from the night before. This pretty
much sums up the immense social life he has through the music he makes. His music passes on positive
energy to his audience which is why we admire him and his work. In a way, he reminds us of a young,
individual Swedish house mafia because of the dedication he puts towards his music and the outcome of
it is easily paid off as everyone loves it! Our conversation runs smoothly as we discover how much of an
easy-going guy he is. We start of by asking him how his career in the electronic/house music industry is go-
“Career is going great! My life is ab-
solutely busy right now and I literally
have no time to rest or sleep. My
music brings the party scene to life,
so it’s my responsibility for everyone
in the club to have the time of their
lives. Being tired and dull won’t fulfill
that purpose; therefore I have to be
up and active 24/7. It’s tough but it’s
alright because music is what I live
for.”
We were keen to find out how he
keeps grounded from his one mad
of a life and who inspires him to work
hard and keep going even though it is
tough to maintain the high standards
of his job.
“I know, it sounds cliché, but my
family and friends help to keep me
grounded because they treat me
like a normal, ordinary person just
like before the fame had hit me. They
don’t let fame get to my head, so
by doing that they would make me
do chores, like throw the trash away
and hover the floor; just like what an
ordinary 21 year old would do, and
I’m thankful for that. I have quite a
few inspirations, one of which is my
dad. Not particularly in music, as he is
in his 50‟s and electronic and house
was still non-existent; but he inspires
me because how tough and caring
he is of a lad. He has gone through
so many tough times in his life, but
never gave up. He’s strong and he
manages to pick up the pieces of
the situation every time. That is why I
look up to him. Music-wise, my music
inspirations would definitely have to
be Michael Jackson. I just respect
how he has changed music in a con-
structive way and how unique he is
as an artist. He stands out; and that’s
what I believe makes a great artist.
You have to be different in order to
reach success.”
The whole of the Polyphonic team
were completely touched by these
words and how endearing it was to
hear that his dad was his biggest
inspiration. Although, we all know that
there is another side to just the whole
lovely-dovey image, therefore we
decided to ask further more about his
party life. His response was overload-
ed that we were forced to cut his
answer down. It’s heartbreaking, but
don’t you worry! We’ve included the
rest of his response on our website
(www.polyphonicmag.com). So we
asked him how life is like in the party
scene and his most memorable mo-
ments. His response as far as it goes,
sounds to us like he has lived life to
the fullest it could get. Envy!
“I absolutely love the party life. A
party won’t be a party until I walk in!
(laughs) but my music is all about
playing it at parties, clubs or any
location that makes you want to
dance and fist-pump. It’s all about
not having a care in the world and
to simply block out all your worries.
This is the reason why I decided to
me to have a great advantage of
meeting new, fantastic people with
big egos. I just love people with big
egos! They are such fun, lively people!
This life has led me to have tons of
memories that will stay with me forev-
er. But one memory in particular that
just tops the cherry on the cake will
probably have to be performing with
chase and status at reading festival.
The atmosphere of festivals is abso-
lutely breath-taking although, getting
to experience that atmosphere is
one thousand times better when you
perform with one of your favourite
electronic and house music artists.
Chase and status just completed the
whole experience and made it one
to remember because the audience
was unbelievingly electrifying.”
Now, this response made us wonder
how Aaron, himself experienced life
before his fame and if he has ever at-
tended these sort of events as a part
of the audience. Also, how creating
and performing his music to thou-
sands of people has changed his life
and where he would be if he chose
not to follow his dreams of becoming
a successful artist and DJ. Here we
discover how deep into conversa-
tion this has come to; although it has
brought up the fact again, that Aaron
Knowlden is in fact an easy-going,
down to earth person. We can be sat
here for hours talking to him although
we only had 30 minutes. It’s hard to
believe the amount of information we
have about him within such a short
period of time. This also expresses
how much he has to say and all these
fascinating stories we are all eager to
hear about him.
