First filming day reflection
- 1. First Filming Day: 22nd January2016 – Thisis the date in whichourgroup got togetherforthe firsttime withcostume and props,to filmdraftshotsof what we wouldactuallydointhe real trailer. What thisfirstdayof filmingdoeswastogive usan initiativeof whatwill andwon’twork.Reflectingonthe shotsduring the day, we understoodwhichcameraanglesworkedandwhichdidn’t.The aimwasto see how our shotswouldrepresentthe scene and the feelingof the characterwithinthe scene.We asa group experimentedwithmanydifferentshotsof the same scene andaction.Thisgave us a varietyof shotsto choose and reflectupon,understandingwhethertheywere effective inportrayingthe emotionsandfeel of the atmosphere. Ourrolesduringthe daywere as: Francis (Me) – Actor (RossGibson) anddirectingshots. Matt Da Silva – Cameraman and directingshots. Hashan Ariyanwansa – Actor(Antagonist) Luca Bondi – Director E.B.I: We hadboth positivesandnegativesfromthe experience,especiallywiththe weather.The weatherwaswetand damp,whichwouldfrequentlyinterferewiththe visibilityof the camera lens.Thiswouldmeanfora lotof the time,we were tryingtoclearthe rain fromthe lens.Thisalsomade the camera focuson the raindrop not the backgroundinwhichwe wantedtofilm.We quicklyhowevermore orlesssortedthisproblemoutaswe (shownin the behindthe scenesimages)usedascarf to cover the camera,whichblockedthe rain90% of the time. EventhoughI had my costume withme,we haddecidedtotrythe endingscene withROSS followingthe Antagonist.The AntagonistwasHashan,andas showninthe testshotshe was not inthe appropriate wearforthe scene,whichminimisedthe scene tobe asscary and tense asit couldbe. I alsobelievewe couldhave takenjustacouple more shotsthe same scene.Eventhoughwe stayedconsistentthroughouttakingmultipleshotsof the same scene,there wouldhave beennoharm intakinga couple of more,givingusa greaterchoice of shotsand a bigger probabilityof the shotlookingprofessionalandwell-rehearsed.
- 2. Notseenclearlybutthe weatherwasdam andwet whichcouldhave had health implications.Alsodangerous withelectronics. As youcan see,the costume is fairlycasual anddoesnot match the costume of the character withinthe trailer.
