Instructor Biography: Mark Bowman
 Hi, I have learned much during my past experiences just as you are now. I was
born and raised in the Buffalo, NY area...Go Bills! I completed my undergraduate
degree in Social Studies in Secondary Education at Buffalo State University. I
began wrestling in elementary school and ultimately became all American by
placing 6th in the nation at the college level.
 I taught High School Social Studies and coached wrestling for several years in the
Memphis Tennessee area where I also worked on my graduated degree in History.
During that time I joined the Army Reserves and called to a 1 year tour of duty as a
combat engineer (which deals with IEDs and the people that make them)in Iraq
after 9/11. This, unfortunately, prevented me from completing that degree. I
currently live in Cape Coral, Florida.
 After Iraq I entered law enforcement as a special operation SWAT entry/sniper. I
am now retired from police work and I currently have a graduate certificate in
Educational Technology.
 I bring this experience to bear as an instructor so that I can pass it on to you.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
 The main idea of this course is that you ultimately learn how to respond to various
challenging situations as a first responder.
 While this course can not cover the different nuances of the thousands of calls to which
you will respond; This course will teach you too think about some the general types of
emergency response. Ultimately it is up to you to continue to think of more possible
emergencies beyond the course into your career.
 The most important aspect of this course is not necessarily memorizing every detail of
response, but it is that you begin to think ahead in a general way about future situations
before you are responding, ultimately keeping you safe and the people need your
assistance.
 Rember…The body cant go where the brain hasn’t gone.
