Synthesis Approach
Various synthesis methods available for capacitive based
sensors.
Such as chemical reduction method,
sol gel method,
Hydrothermal Synthesis
Most of the cases in the synthesis process make a composite
for suitable response.
Fabrication Approach
Thermal evaporation
Sputtering
Dip coating
Spinning
Pulse Laser Deposition (PLD)
Name of transparent flexible substrate
Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS)
Indium Tin Oxide (ITO)
Poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA)
Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET)
Difference between synthesis and fabrication approach.
Synthesis approach Fabrication approach
Simple approach Complicated approach

Response time is high Response time is not much high
Work in all direction Work in some specific direction
Some specific difference between fabrication and synthesis approach of devolved smart materials
Applications
 Integrating multifunctional sensing components in to
one device is an important advance in wearable
electronics.
 The function of detecting multiple signals such as
strain, pressure, temperature, humidity, and so on into
a single device to provide more comprehensive human
health and environmental information
Multifunctional Sensors
Capacitive sensor for eye pressure monitoring
 Frequency is vary with pressure
S. Rajagopalan et al. 2008
Conclusion
Single sensor can be used for multiple sensors.
We can design sensor according to our needs.
Flexible sensor response time and accuracy are better.
Cost effective
Easy to fabricate the sensors.
