The paper proposes a dynamic self-organizing opportunistic clustering method called FLOC that utilizes hesitant fuzzy linguistic term analysis to enhance energy efficiency in wireless sensor networks (WSNs). By implementing an asynchronous sleep/awake cycle to form opportunistic connections, the proposed scheme improves network lifetime, packet delivery ratio, and overall energy consumption compared to existing methods. The authors also incorporate relative thermal entropy as a key factor in decision-making for sensor nodes to optimize their roles within the network.
