In the past week I have decided what I want to do for my FMP. I have created profiles on various people that have inspired me on my decision. I have
decided to create a music video that will take place among multiple areas like windfarms where the urban landscape meets countryside Areas. Within this I
want to include the essence of other directors like Christopher Nolan, well, their cinematography. Film makers like Sam Mendes and
Denis Villenvenue regularly use Roger Deakins as their cinematographer and he is one the best if not the best in the business. My favorite part of this week
has been talking and gaining inspiration about Roger Deakins. After seeing his work I saw that some of his best work is in my favorite movies and he is one
of the reasons those movies are so successful. Sam Mendes' productions in recent years have included a lot of Roger Deakins appearances. In titles like
Jarhead, Skyfall and 1917 which is where a large chunk of my influence is coming from. I have also completed my draft proposal; however I think I have
shown in my previous projects that my initial idea can adapt and change. So, at this moment in time I am wanting to create a music video like glue by bicep
but instead of techno like classical music or my own droning composing i have made myself.
In the next week I explored my research and discovered Greenpeace which is a none profit organization that spreads awareness off pollution and other
unsustainable ways of human activities. This gave me a specific audience, as previously I was unsure whether my project would appeal to a specific range of
people that are in a community. I knew it would appeal to people who like that sort of thing, but that does not present a clear group of people, so
Greenpeace gives me a good range in who I should be aiming to please and appeal to. I have also this week, found some locations in which I will want to
film power stations and other buildings that stick out, surrounded by a naturistic atmosphere.
I think my most noticeable strengths of my research are my existing product, cinematographers and Director breakdowns in which I review their work and
pick up the influences that I will be using in my own work, like roger Deakins and Christopher Nolan. I talk about the aspect of their work in which is the
most relevant to my research and then deciding what to include, this means having a sense of problem solving and having a sort of content compass to
what is most relevant.
3rd march 2020 In the next week I have started to problem solve and to produce an idea of what equipment I shall be using, I have decided to use my
iPhone, I have justified this by going through the pros and cons and the specs of the DLSR and my specific iPhone prooving I will achieve a better quality
when shooting. Some of the problems I have encountered consist of: Toilet facilities, production time and sourcing a driver, noise pollution and crew
dynamics. My biggest problem is with health and saftey when working near flooded areas, Working outside, as the weather in the uk has been slightly
chaotic and unpredictable so I have made sure to factor in the chances of getting caught in some of the dangerous weather, I have then devised a series of
safty protocalls that me and my driver will follow if stuck. I believe we problem solve so it shows we have got a solid plan for production, it's also because
we need backup plans, as people know who are in this line of work, things can and will go wrong, this problem solving plan will give us many backups that
we may follow if such an issue were to arise. I believe my greatest strength in my project so far is my camera ability and equipment, due to my recent
investment in new technology I can now control a lot more camera aspects like exposure and brightness and saturation, then in post production edit these
factors more for my optimum look I aiming to create. I belive my project is going spiffingly, already, I have collected specific shots for my project and the
rest will be sourced in the next month, I belive my research is clear enough that someone could look at it and get the aspect of what I am trying to convey
into film. One thing I am slightly worried about is weather conditions for my optimum shooting times, which include dusk dawn, morning and midday.
