This document analyzes forest cover change patterns in Myanmar between 1990 and 2000, highlighting the country's significant biodiversity and the persistent threat of deforestation, which averages 0.3% annually. Using Landsat satellite imagery, the study identifies varying deforestation rates across administrative units, with hotspots driven primarily by agricultural expansion, resource extraction, and population pressures. Despite the retention of much forest cover, certain regions, particularly mangroves and dry forests, face serious degradation, necessitating urgent conservation efforts.
