• #7: Innovation Adoption Lifecycle, a part of Diffusion of Innovations theory originated by sociology professor Everett M. Rogers. Everett introduced the term Early Adopter. His theory seeks to explain how, why, and at what rate new ideas and technology spread. As a costumer, which group do you belong to? As a costumer, who are innovators, raise your hand. As an IT-professional, which group do you belong to? Ie. would you enjoy learning and developing cutting edge technology? Innovator: Risk takers who have the resources & desire to try new things, even if they fail Early Adopter: Selective about which technologies they start using. They are considered the ”one to check in with” for new information and reduce other’s uncertainty about new technology by adopting it Early Majority: take their time before adopting a new idea. They are willing to embrace a new technology as long as they understand how it fits with their lives Late Majority: adopt in reaction to peer pressure, emerging norms, or economic neccessity. Most of the uncertainty around an idea must be resolved before they adopt Laggards: are traditional and make decistions based on past experience. They are often economically unable to take risks on new ideas
