The nature and background of the Pangasinan
dances is an example of tracing back the stories
behind the dances and the locality where it came
from or even searching for deeper
understanding of the origin of the dances Such
as the Kumakaret in Pangasinan, or a person
who makes wine, tuba or vinegar which is an
example of fermentation.

Skills applied in the dance. Props used in the
dance.
Steps in making wine, tuba or vinegar from
sasa(a kind of palm tree).
TECHNIQUE & STYLE
Proper execution of the movement/s such as
rolling, twisting, whirling with the glasses on

or even on teeth which is an example of
balancing.

Theme:
PHILIPPINE FOLK DANCES: Pangasinan Folk Dances’ origin, movement, skills, creativity and nature.
Concept:
•History of Pangasinan folk dance - Kumakaret. (History)
•Substances and Mixtures (Elements)
•Apply speed and velocity in the movements such as whirl, twist, balance. (Technique and style)
Process:
Cultural mapping of the kumakarets and the kumakaret folk dance; knowing elements and compounds of the
wine, tuba and vinegar; and movement analysis the dance skills.
•Distinguish the norms, skills and values of the Kumakarets who make wine, tuba and vinegar of Barrio Dorungan,
Pangasinan.
•Identify the substances present in the wine, tuba, vinegar.
•Validate the application of physics in the movement skills in dance.
Output:
•Presentation of research output on the people of Barrio Dorungan on how to make wine.
•Application of research through wine-making.
•Re-interpretation of some of the dance skills in Kumakaret folk dance.
Problems:
•Nature and background of kumakarets.
•Investigatory project on wine-making.
