Google Maps allows users to create mapping mashups that combine content from different sources into a single interface. Some examples described include Instagram on a map, which shows photo locations; Mashspots, for finding places around a dropped pin; and Pothole Season, a crowdsourced map and app for reporting pothole locations. Other mapping mashups discussed help with running routes, studying earthquakes, measuring map areas, exploring history with photos pinned to locations, and a group presented on Geocaching, antenna searching, fitness tracking, and another application. Mapping mashups provide many opportunities for education and exploring information visually on maps.
