HARRY POTTER AND THE
PRISONER OF AZKHABAN
With a partner, write down the three
most important things someone needs
to know about the world of Harry
Potter.
(If you haven’t read the books or seen
the films write what you do know!)
Make sure you:
• Use full sentences

While we read you need the following out in front of
you:
•A pencil/pen
•A highlighter
Why do you think we need these tools to read? What
might we use them for?
READING TIME!
While we read look out for the following:
•Sentences that tell us background information about
Harry.
•Information that tells us about how Harry feels about
someone/something.
•Information about how another character feels about
Harry.
•Sentences that tell us about what kind of people the
Dursleys are.
CEMENTING OUR UNDERSTANDING
In pairs, find the answer to the question in the text,
highlight/underline and label the quote then answer the
questions in your workbooks.
1. What is ‘unusual’ about Harry Potter? Explain why are
these traits are odd for a teenage boy.
2. Explain, in full sentences, why Harry Potter never
enjoys his summer holidays.
3. Explain how the Dursleys feel about Harry and magic.
4. Using a quote from the text, explain what kind of
people the Dursleys are.
OWL POST
Write a note, to be sent by owl to your parents,
explaining what you have learnt about Harry
Potter and his family.
Remember! An owl’s leg is small so you only
have 6 lines!
