HARDWARE
Hardware are metal products used in construction, such us bolts, hinges, locks, tools, etc.
TWO CLASSIFICATIONS OF HARDWARE:
• Finishing hardware – Hardware, such us hinges locks, catches, etc. that has a finished
appearance as well as function, esp. that used with doors, windows, and cabinets, maybe
considered part of the decorative treatment of a room or building.
• Rough hardware – in building construction, hardware meant to be concealed, such as bolts,
nails, screws, spikes, rods, and other metal fittings

BOLTS AND NUTS
Bolts have threaded shafts that receive nuts.To use them, a
hole is drilled, pushing the bolt through and adding a nut.
Bolts tightened with screw while holding the nut with a
wrench.

CHAIN HEAD AND FOOT BOLT
To Fix One Sash
A bolt which is fixed at the
bottom of a door and can be
operated by foot usually when
the door is unbolted, the bolt
head is held up by a sping.
Chain Door Fastener – A device
attached to a door opening to the
length of the chain. Usually used in
hotel rooms
Flush Bolt- a door bolt so
designed that when
applied it is flush with
the face or edge of the
door.
Cremone bolt - used to
fastened upper and
lower door Door Bolt (Barrel Bolt)
– A rod-shaped bolt for
fastening a door attached
to one side of the door at
the edge and sliding into
socket on the frame of the
opening.
To lock the door
Lockset – a complete lock system including the
basic locking mechanisms and all the
accessories, such as knobs escutcheons, plates,
etc.
1. Entrance Lockset – with a key and universal
button which when pushed, stays put and
locks the door.
2. Bedroom Lockset – same as the entrance
lockset but simpler in design
3. Toilet Lockset – without a key has a button
that is pushed to lock inside.
A mortise lock is one that
requires a pocket—the mortise—
to be cut into the door where the
lock is to be fitted and is common
in commercial construction.
A cylindrical lock is designed to be
installed through the door with a
knob or lever on either side that
retract the latch when turned or
depressed.
Latch – a simple fastening device having a latch bolt, but not
a dead bolt contains no provisions for locking with a key,
usually openable from both sides
