Homework Please refer to the daily homework folder that is sent home each day.  Math: Everyday Math, Math Facts Spelling: Monday pretest, Friday test Reading: Daily Writing: Response for reading Science/Social Studies - occasional project
Morning Meeting Morning Meeting: Greeting Game Morning Message Calendar Weather  Days in School CARES - cooperation, assertion, responsibility, empathy, self control FACTS - focus, attitude, confidence, try your best, stamina
Language Arts Our reading series is Literacy By Design by Rigby. Through whole class, small group and independent reading experiences, children will have the opportunity to improve their skills in comprehension, vocabulary, fluency and phonics/phonemic awareness. Texts include non-fiction and fiction.  We will be utilizing the 6 + 1 traits of writing.
Reading Fiction/Nonfiction - Genres Readability level: Developmental Reading Assessment Reading rate, expression, comprehension, fluency
Writing Narrative Writing Diamond Entertaining Beginning  -  sound action, thought or question, dialogue describe the setting - 3 senses and a thought The Main Event  - mix it up  action, observation, thoughts/feeling, dialogue Extended Ending  - memory, feeling As I walked away, I couldn’t help but remember…
Math Math Facts - expectation is to know facts in  3 seconds or less Our program,  "Everyday Mathematics" , supports student learning through: L essons based hands on activities and discussions S olving problems based on everyday situations P racticing basic skills daily  - in school and at home R evisiting concepts to ensure comprehension The six content strands that are addressed in each grade level:  * Number and Numeration  * Operations and Computations * Data and Chance  * Measurement & Reference Frames * Geometry * Patterns, Functions & Algebra
Social Studies Natural Features (geographical information is presented in maps & globes) Community (producers & consumers, buyers & sellers, goods & services) Boundaries of the United States, Canada & Mexico (difference of continent & country) Continents and Oceans (location of all) Chronological Order (related to students life, information timelines present)
Science Nocturnal Animals, Frogs & Toads (life cycle, basic needs, habitat, adaptations) Weather and Air (patterns in weather, air & wind) Solids, Liquids and Gases (identifies objects, identifies properties & shape characteristics)
